FLECHETTE CANNON

By Babaganoosh, in X-Wing

Maybe they should errata away the "no range-1 bonus dice for secondary weapons" thing.

I agree for cannons, but Cluster Missiles, Proton Rockets, and APTs probably don't need the help (okay APTs might)

Not exactly, There is no ship that can shoot 6 dice at range 1 without plenty of help.

APT is an awesome attack but you have to set it up and that is ffrustrating as helll.

Both of those cannons now make imp Katherine a bit more viable yay!?!

For scum one scyk doling out stress on large ships is worth it, outrider with HLC isnt nearly as scary when it cant TL or focus.

That is the one advantage of the cannon weapon over the torpedo weapon.

Still what do you think is better dealing Ion Tokens or Dealing Stress Tokens.

Ion of course as the cannon cost more points for almost the same effect.

However I would like to try a bunch of stress Ion Builds.

Except you need two ion counters on a large ship to have an effect so your only effecting it every other turn where with the stress gun can have an effect every turn.

Unless your willing to buy two ion canons you simply won't generate the same effect.

I've seen first hand how neutered the outrider becomes when stressed, same would apply to the falcon turrets just lose their threat when you can't modify the dice.

My point though is do you want Cluster Missiles with two 4 dice attacks hitting you? Or 6 Dice APTs/Proton Rockets? APTs require a set up and are a tad bit expensive (especially compared to Proton Rockets, but they are a more guaranteed thing) but Proton Rockets are dirt cheap and don't require as much set up (with predator/lone wolf providing some reroll assistance at very minimal effort)

Increasing an Ion/Flechette Cannon, to 4 dice no one would care about, the Blaster/Autoblaster turrets probably could benefit from this as well, and it makes the Mangler a tad more appealing on 3 attack ships

Not really trying to justify the price of APTs, but there is certainly a difference between them and Proton Rockets. If properly setup, APTs are extraordinarily likely to roll five hits. Proton Rockets not so much.

Yeah that's why I thought they MAYBE could use some help (mostly though it would just need a 1-2 point reduction in my opinion, or not having to spend the target lock) but Proton Rockets are still cheap enough I don't think we want those buffed up to 6 dice

You know. If Prockets WERE 6 dice. They might actually be worth it lol.
