Hero Balance

By Husker949, in The Witcher Adventure Game

Does anyone else feel that Dandilion is overpowered? I played last night as him, and I was able to just run the table. I had, I think, 68 points at the end of the game, and the next closest was Triss at 48. Has anyone else seen this, or is it just the way I played him? As it is, he is my favorite character from the series so it just felt better for me.

All heroes can generate a rather powerful engine that allows them to progress quickly through their quests. Dandelion could be a little easier to exploit since he has a card allowing you to basically save his bum from any fight, but others have other powerful interactions as well.

I think all of the characters have been labeled as "OP" at some point or another in the last 2 months, so maybe the design of the game is balanced.

I agree that every character has the ability to be really powerful and fly through quests, but I saw Triss had every single development card on the table and I just couldn't see the power in her cards that let her rifle through everything like Dandilion. His Silver Tounge(maybe the right skill name?) ability, the one where he can spend 5 gold for a diplomatic proof, is by far the most powerful ability I have seen so far. The fact that he can just move from location to location collecting any other leads to gain his combat or magic proofs as needed, and sing to get his 2 gold a turn and after the 3rd turn just gain a proof. I really enjoy the game, and I love the way it plays, I was just concerned that I could see my personal favorite character being the most OP(my friends would kill me if I played him all the time ;) ).

Husker,

I still don't have the retail version of the game, so I don't know how cards were changed after the testing was done (I guess changes were minimal, tho), but looking back at my data, out of the five games we played during the last beta, I see two victories by Yarpen, two victories scored by Geralt and one scored by Triss. Dandelion arrived at the second place 3 times, but never scored a victory. Just sharing my data, nothing more :)

That's perfectly fine Julia. I love the data and statistics you provide for Eldritch. I am a numbers guy myself being an Engineer, so I can appreciate it. So far I love this game so much, I have only played 2 games of it but can't get enough. I was supposed to play with my friends yesterday but we had 5 people over so we couldn't play it unfortunately.

Happy you like the game :) And thanks for your words on my Eldritch work :)
