I just finished The Moon is a Harsh Mistress - Heinlein.

I liked it but not as much as Starship Troopers and Stranger in a Strange Land .

ST is an all-time favorite of mine.

"Moon-" is my dad's fave.

"Starship troopers" is mine!

I have a nice new bookshelf with Barnes and Noble leatherbound Collectible Editions. Very nice for display...

Anyway, I'm thinking about rereading the Dune series.

What's on my bookshelf... a model yacht actually. ;)

Similar, but moreso. Lots and lots of models, but also lots and lots of history books, plus some fiction. Just re-read The Call of Cthulhu the other day, but I've been mainly reading ship histories as prep for building a rather large stack of warship models waiting for me...

How about building a model of the "Alert" from call of Cthulhu?

On my tablet, working my way through The Fall of Reach by Eric Nylund and X-Wing: Rogue Squadron by Michael Stackpole. Downloaded and read The Forgotten Door by Alexander Key in a single evening this week for a nostalgia trip. Anyone remember that one from grade school?

Simultaneously going through the collected works of H.P. Lovecraft (yes, again). I got the B&N collector's hardcover for Christmas, it is a work of art. Along with two H.P. Lovecraft graphic novels which are a surprisingly good format for his work. Never mind that I already own paperback copies of most of his stories and multiple digital copies of his complete library (collected them all in txt files years ago then spent 99ยข on the anthology later).

Was also partway through LOTR and the Silmarillion, but have put those on the back burner for now.

what? No Spaceballs" DVD?!

The rest of my responce is mostly "Got it, got it, oooh zombies at my neighbours! Got some of that, wish i had that, got it, nice, nice, My little pony FIM! where did that come from?, got it, etc..." :)

This, by the way, is the main collection of books. There's another one about as much, maybe a bit more, but they are older or more ragged books. :P .

Kitty! :D

Kitty! :D

That's no kitty, that's a Moon!

And she has.... a son.

Two Bengal cats, Moon and Rajah.

How about building a model of the "Alert" from call of Cthulhu?

Hmmm... Sadly, Lovecraft didn't give her much of a description, so I'd have to do a stylized conversion. But, I like conversions!

What are you planning on using this "large stack of warship models" for?

Only as display models, and totally *not* world domination!

No, really!

Okay, maybe a little...

I thought you might be looking at a naval war game with them.

I keep mystuff prettymuch organized by series and or property owner. IM also kinda burned out on spaceballs @_@

JFYI They made a not so well know seq too Zombies ate my neighbours! If you got the WII look up lucusarts and you can buy / download it. Its good and the monster potion turns you into the Grim Reaper this time around XD Ps they are making a live action movie of ZAMN! Since Disney owns Lucusarts and Marvel the hero of ZAMN! should be able to get away with wearing a Punisher shirt =)

NOW ON TOO THE BIGGEST QUESTION!!!

WHERE DID THE JOURNAL OF THE TWO SISTERS AND ELEMENTS OF HARMONY COME FROM?!

They are both around 192 pages long and the publisher is Little Brown Books. You can get them on amazon.

Journal of the two sisters is beautiful but has two flaws.

1 It ends half way through the book and has the main six writing their own stuff into the book.

2 You dont see LUNAs issues with Celestia aned the pain she ends up feeling that allows the creatures of the moon to posses her becoming Nightmare Moon. From a story information point of view I wouldv wanted too se this. On the other hand I love the Luna character and it hurst seeing her in pain.

Like I said in another topic. "If you find yourself not caring about the the characters in the story your partaking in OR hope they die the writter has done something wrong unless they wanted you to ferl this way.

The good things though are as follows.

*Its full of artwork based on the tapestries you see in the first two eps and the one ep when the 6 are in the sisters old castle.

*It wonderfull seeing what Luna and Celestias life was like before Nightmare Moon. Luna was very happy back then, which was great to see. She had a wild hair sim but not as extreme as Pinkie. Shes also clearly the warrior between the two sisters, she takes on a monticore own her own AND by the time she has been saved by the main 6 takes great joy in fighting monticores and owlbears at night. You see this last bit of info in a diffrent book.

* You get too see what Starscroll was like JFYI any not a mlp fan "Star Scroll" = "Gandalf the Grey"

The elements of harmony book is great to, its full of concept art as well as a incomplete world map that shows areas not shown yet in show as well as giving info on the cities that have ponies and the types of ponies that live there. It has a small guide for ever ep from season 1-3 writter notes about alot of the characters " King Sombra is considered the most dangerous, and has written letters from the creator and writters too the fans both target and unexpected.

I also love love love my asian platinum hits Kinect SW. It should have made it on the platinum list in Euro and NORTH AMER because of all the records it broke, but because of bad reviews with people lying, or using un-cally equipment, or not well informed on how to use the ingamecontrolls, it never hit plat except in asia.

I also forgot too add to my collection my guide to Darth Vader, it revels Vader did learn Darth Sions immortality force ability and other awesome stuff.

Mega Man robot master guide as well as my Mega Man megamix and gigamix vol books

Inside Darth Vader. Goes into extrem detail the cyborging changegs too his whole body and the new capabilities they have.

Final Fantasy 7 books players guides

Ghost rider and marvel knight visual guide

Halo visual guide and HALO 4 visual guide.

Alot of these are not on the bookcase however...

Over christmas re read the Thrawn Trilogy, fave EU stuff ever. Now reading Pratchett's 'Raising Steam' as I got this for Christmas.

On to of that I have been browsing 'Astounding Adventures' a 30s pulp source book for the BRP system, another present.

For those who looked at the wheel of time series I am trying to get into that but have only managed half way through book one, its so slow.

perhaps I was spoiled by my love for the Belgariad and Mallorean.

I thought you might be looking at a naval war game with them.

I've had some thought for a while of doing something along those lines. Most of my ship kits are 1/700, but, even then, they're going to need quite a bit of space for something like that.

Good thing I've got access to the local community center's function hall...

It's been done before. My preferred scale is 1/4,800 and I've got hundreds of ships.

Both shots were posed and aren't from a game in progress.

Nice! What game system?

perhaps I was spoiled by my love for the Belgariad and Mallorean.

I enjoyed the Belgariad, but not the Mallorean.

And as far as fantasy goes, the Black Company series by Glen Cook is some of the best stuff around.

Nice! What game system?

One I wrote myself specifically for large fleet actions, hence the large fleets. It's been a labour of love for the last twenty years or so. I haven't bothered to get it published and it only gets played at our local wargames club, but it's quite popular down there. I've even managed to drag some of the guys away from 40K for a game.

Normally I'd run a couple of squadrons of battleships (2-4) with attendant cruisers and destroyers making around 16-24 ships on the table on average. But I have played a game where there was over 300 ships involved. I've covered the use of carrier and land based aircraft and submarines. I've run a re-fight of the Battle of Midway at least three times, and done the Battle of Pearl Harbor about twice.

Strange thing was, in both Pearl Harbor battles, the USS Arizona suffered a catastrophic main magazine explosion which sunk her immediately. One was a torpedo hit from a Kate and the other was an armour piercing bomb hit from a Val. The chances were about 2% of getting such a brutal hit, but to get it in both games was just a little bit eerie.

Sounds really cool. And yes, that's very eerie. Poor Ari. I'd be really interested to see the rules you came up with, if you wouldn't mind!

About halfway through The Three Body Problem. Brain-melting. Have to remind yourself that the Sun WILL rise every once in awhile when reading it.

Anyone read the Agent Pendergast series by Preston & Child?

I just finished Blue Labyrinth (book 14). It was good, not great. I am glad they are finally spending some time developing Constance.

I think the series peaked after book 5 or so, but they are still worth reading.
