Hey guys, new here, first post actually, but I'm wondering lately what the best wingmen for a 39 point darth (proton rockets, outmaneuver, engine) would be? I'm thinking either a howlrunner mini swarm of some type or a recon bounty hunter and a pair of ties. what do you guys think?

Otherwise at least until the raider drops, you should pair him with heavy hitters that can deal damage while Vader flanks.
for casual play, i like to pair Vader up with 2 Delta TIEdefs
I did well with backstabber and brath
I had a lot of fun with a monster build of Vader, Chiraneau and Vessery in a 150pt match on Sat!
Vader is the New (Old) hotness at the moment, once wave 6 and the Imperial Raider get here im going ot be flying this to the soonest tournament possible:

Not that that answers your question, in terms of a Vader wingman, I'm enjoying 60 point decimator builds (though usually its with a 39 point whisper rather than a 39 point Vader)
as to what build of Decimator that's up to you but it sure is fun having a 360 turret on the imperial side for once
One weakness i think Vader has is his ability to remove stress. He only has 1 banks, 1 forward and a 2 forward. There's quite a few things out there atm causing stress. Has anyone considered a "wingman" that removes that weakness? Like Yorr, named fighter with Wingman etc? The worry is that once Vader gets stressed, if he wants to remove it, he's not going very far to do that and his moves are become predictable and blockable.
Rebel Captive shouldnt be an issue for Vader lists with another 9 (or 9s), but what about things like Tactician, R3-A2, Mara Jade etc.

Recently tried Kir Kanos (24) together with Darth Vader (29) + Squad Leader (2) + Cluster Missiles (4) in a 60 points match.
For 100 points add an Alpha Squadron Pilot (18) and a Royal Guard Pilot + Veteran Instincts (1)

Any that won't immediately run into him when they spot a YT-1300

I fly him with 3 alphas now and again.. or Soontir and Turr.. after the new upgrades.. maybe a new advanced pilot or a couple tempest.. just need to see the new pilots to be sure..
