Best thing on TV/DVD these days?

By Gadge, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Bit predictable but the wife and I are addicted to

Game of Thrones

Sons of Anarchy

Walking Dead

(all of the seasons have got a bit brutal lately)

and

Rebels... slightly less brutal and dark :)

Also we've got a real love for 80s Dr Who and Blakes 7 for a retro sci fi fix.

So what are you watching at the mo?

Any recomendations.

Game of Thrones
Walking Dead

Homeland
Gotham
Arrow

Flash
Marvel's Agents of Shield
Constantine
Lillyhammer
Peaky Blinders
Star Wars: Rebels
Orange is the New Black

Misfits(while it was on)
Continuum

Marco Polo

The Big Bang Theory

The Black List

Legends
The Bridge
Longmire

Justified
Hunter X Hunter

Legendary Heroes
Ultimate Spiderman
Avengers Assemble
Sword Art Online

Ghost in the Shell

Wow if i watched that much TV i'd never get anything done! :)

I stopped watching Tv when in got stable internet connection. :)

Well except for GoT. and a bit of Walking dead. I'm suprised nobody picked doctor Who.

I'm currently in the process of (re)watching a ton of 80's and 90s cartoons, along with copious amounts of anime and Kamen rider/ super sentai.

Dr Who we watch but mainly up to david tennant.

I never really liked matt smith as a dr

same with classic 'who', i only really like baker and davidson.

Sian and i recently got into watching 'ulysesses 2033' or whatever it was called space cartoon about the marooned crew (its the greek myth in the future, dead good)

I also forgot that i used to love ALF and started watching it again as the first season or two are up on youtube. I actually own a few episodes on VHS but have no video player!

Yup I got rid of TV in 2006. A good computer and internet connection is all you need now. I do still keep a little Netflix account up and running. I have a huge DVD collection too.

On Netflix I am watching Blue Bloods and The Originals currently.

:)

About the same for me.

I moved into the wifes house in 2009 and while redecorating as she didnt own a TV and i didnt want to get sucked into wasting time with a 'time sink' i snipped the old aerial cables off and plastered over them.

I just had our laptops to watch i player programmes or DVDs, i bought an xbox and huge TV for that but these days we dont have a set top box or anything like that.

We either watch stuff on i player and connect it to the tv, or buy box sets of shows we like.

If we want to watch current stuff we have a night in with mates who do have sky/cable stuff and watch four or five episodes of a show in an evening.

I'd not endorse illegally downloading stuff and watching it... we'd never do that. Honest.

(actually we have downloaded some truly ancient stuff like Blakes 7)

Netflix has ALL the good ole STAR TREK.

Not watching anything now that Strictly has finished!

The Blacklist and Agents of SHIELD are can't-miss for me and my girlfriend. We watch Constantine most weeks, too.

I'd like to check out The Flash but haven't gotten around to it yet.

And I use "alternate means" for watching Star Wars Rebels, which I caught up on in a binge about a week ago.

Oh, and I like The Goldbergs and Black-ish (and Modern Family is OK), although I don't catch them often because they air on X-Wing night.

Didn't bother with Agents of Shield, but then I was never into X-Men or super hero type stuff either. But the Blacklist is a MUST. I loved James Spader in Boston Legal, and his Red is just a really sinister villain/hero.

They've finally started a sci-fi channel here in New Zealand, so I'm watching ST:TNG and Stargate SG1 from the beginning again. I'm liking Defiance as well. That seems to be developing into something interesting. No spoilers here please.

They are threatening to start playing Rebels in a few days so I might give it a look.

I don't bother watching programs or movies on my PC, because that's what I got a 42" tv for.

Anything with Kevin Bacon in.

... Do you see what I did there?

And there's our bacon reference....

NCIS and Ice Road Truckers are the only TV I watch.

I plan to get Clone Wars and Rebels at some point, along with a Red Dwarf's collection, but probably downloaded to a tablet.

I'm quickly growing tired of Walking Dead. There are way too many filler episodes. I already hate waiting a week to watch an episode of a show, but when absolutely nothing happens in the episode? (like that whole last season...)

Love GoT, can't wait for that one. Rewatching Breaking Bad again on Netflix, which I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet. If ya haven't seen it, you should

Walking dead certainly was 'talking dead' for about two seasons... the 'ranch' season and the 'woodbury/governor' season but its really picked up the pace now.

I read the comics up untill around the point they found the prison/ran afoul of the governor.

So i was a bit to burned out to follow the series.

Also most zombie movies/comics:series eventual reach that point where other humans become a bigger threat than the zombies, or the survvors get all bored/emo and it becomes a big soap and i lose intrest.

I can't say enough good things about brooklyn 99. Working in that field it's found accurate humor far too often.

One gem I've found on Netflix is the british detective show Luther. It was recommended because the wife and I liked Sherlock Holmes so much.

Everything else to me seems like I've seen it all before.

I may check that out, my wife and i like Holmes stories (i've actually read every single SH short story...too ages as they were in a huge book with pages as thing as tissue paper and a tiny font) :)

Books you say? Well good sir, if you are into that sort of thing, perhaps avail yourself of the fine work of "Moriarty: The Hound of the D'Urbervilles" by Kim Newman.

It's a darkly hilarious account of that otherfamous London duo; Moriarty and Moran.

I bloody love Kim Newman!

Anno dracula is awesome, Bloody red baron is good too.

His early GW fiction like 'drachenfels' was the best of the bunch

drachenfels and the whole 'genevieve series are still outstanding!

I got the early GW dark future books he did as Jack Yeovil. Route 666 and Comback tour (Colonel Elvis!) in teh original GW run and all 4 books reprinted version with altered content.

My fave short story by him is " Completist heaven" from the Mamoth book of Frankenstein.
