X-Wing Confessions

By Tailsgod, in X-Wing

I bought six Tie Defenders just for Predator. :|

No matter the cool ships, I will always love running four X-Wings. :D They are just so cool and I love the way a proper flight of X-Wings looks on the board.

I want to get a 2nd Transport, 2nd CR90 and 2 Raiders even though I've yet to have one epic match... Because I just want 2 of everything for my OCD

I'm also yet to fly a space cow despite having 2 or a 7/8 Tie swarm.

I text players to ask if they want to come to my place for a game. I then tell my wife, "BOB wants to play some X-Wing. Do you mind if he comes over?"

Just ran fat Han for the first time ever (meta doesn't exist here no one has ever brought one to an event) felt bad about it, seemed like cheating.

That's because it is cheating. :-)

I am a terrible, terrible painter. I still try though, even though everyone else seems immensely more talented than me.

Also, I pay money for this game instead of making my student loans payments.

These are pretty cool guys. Making me smile.

I dont know if i've got any interesting ones.

I've got the obvious confession that i make laser noises and tie fighter howls (badly) when moving or firing my ships :)

I'll be honest I'd be at a disadvangtage playing you because I would be too busy tuning you out.

Time for my confession: when I get drunk and play a game of xwing, i usually end up painting one of them.

Also I would play as many people as I could when I first bought the game so I could learn the rules better, and every time I would coach a few moves for my opponents always resulting in my defeat. Dont think I won a match until I had an opponent I hadnt taught

Playing Imperials makes me want to Texas Chainsaw Massacre my opponent

I drove three hours to purchase the YT-1300, and I have yet to fly it.

I write up most of my X-wing posts either sitting on the loo or lying in the Bathtub! XD

I typically buy enough ships to field 100 points of just that ship. I try to play once a week - which evens out.

I've yet to fly my Decimator or YT2400.

I'm desperately wanting a universal campaign system for x-wing.

I love SW t-shirts - the subtle kind that only fans would understand. I have around 100. When in Bangkok, I bought over 20 T-shirts in just over 10 minutes. They all shrunk.

I refuse to play if I'm not wearing a SW shirt.

I play an echo swarm because I love the expression on my opponents face when he expects my formation of ties to k-turn and instead I break them into a fur ball blocking traffic jam, while echo comes blazing out of nowhere for the kill.

When I do a massed Matador turn, I will occasionally shout "Ole!"

When i got my Tantive from the Black Friday sale on Coolstuff, I immediately tore it open and "flew" it around the kitchen. It didnt matter to me that i had friends over. I'm also 30 years old....

Secondly, my gf asks me at least once a week to teach her how to play. I havent because im afraid she might win.... And then ill never hear the end of it.... I cam hear it now...

"You spend hundreds of dollars on these minis and i beat you! Loser! Loser! Loser!"

(She actually calls me a loser all the time)

I like 3,000 point games of X-Wing.

Confession 1:

I own WAY more X-wings and Y-wings than I need, and I intend to get WAY more, because I eventually want to run a Battle of Yavin scenario and I want to repaint all of them to properly match the ships seen in the battle. I'm going to do the same with the TIE Fighters.

Confession 2:

I drop hints all the time for my friends to buy me X-wing miniatures for Christmas and birthdays because I can't have enough of them.

Confession 2b:

Along the same lines, I have this urge to have at least a hundred Rebel and a hundred Imperial ships just because I think it would be awesome to see this many starfighters duking it out at once. Or just assembled and displayed on a table. I may need a cold shower now...

Confession 3:

I bought the CR-90 only because I wanted a CR-90 model that I could light up for less than $100, and that old Hasbro toy just looks AWFUL to me.

Confession 4:

I am a lighting addict and I plan on lighting at least one of each of the starfighters.

Confession 5:

I own the Millennium Falcon and never play it because I can't ever seem to win with it. That last part might be Confession 5b.

Confession 6:

I LOVE to play with ordinance, especially on the A-wings.

Confession 7:

I love the Y-wing with a passion and win with it quite often when I play. The only times I haven't won with the Y-wing in my squad were going up against the TIE Phantom. But is that a surprise to anyone?

Confession 8:

I try to cajole everyone I meet who has even a modicum of interest in Star Wars to play X-wing with me.

Confession 9:

A friend accidentally left one of his flight stands in my box once, and I never gave it back.

Confession 10:

I play with Expose despite knowing full well that it's a lousy card for the sole reason that I love to roll dice.

I own less than I would like and have spent less time playing than I have building lists, discussing the game and reading these forums. Now for the more interesting confessions.

1. I have always liked the Tie Advanced, Darth Vader is one of my favorite pilots.

2. A match with my brother came down to 1 PtL Green Squadron Pilot and 1 Red Squadron pilot. Both ships had 1 Hull left. It took us 8 rounds before somebody won.

3. I want to buy more X-Wing swag but I am not willing to part with the funds required just yet. I want at least 1 of each expansion that I don't currently own. For the expansions released, that runs me close to $300 even with online prices.

4. I do not like using Biggs. The times I have flown with him in my squad can be counted on 1 hand.

I haven't played in three months due to the tournament only mentality in my area. I am very saddened by this.

I like building odd ball lists

Edit: Lists that aren't really good in any particular way but very different and fun to fly

Sometimes, I like to look at the game more than play it.

It doesn't even have to be set up.

I like to open my Plano boxes just to admire the ships.

And the way everything is organized...

I don't play much. I have a tendency to lose very badly, but I always have fun no matter the outcome.

This forum is my favorite board on the Internet. Partly, it's Star Wars. Partly, it's because I do want to get better with my game. Most of all it's because of the camaraderie I see. My father suffered a stroke early last month. This forum gave me reason to smile on many a night when I was at the hospital, keeping vigil. He passed away a few days before Thanksgiving. You could say this game and reading about it has lifted my spirits more than most would believe.

Dad thought it was pretty funny, how I would pack up my minis to play "that Star Wars game" every week. He may not have understood the appeal but he appreciated how it gave me so much enjoyment.

Sitting on the shelf next to my monitor are a Rebel Aces pack, two TIE Defenders, and as of yesterday two TIE Phantoms. They are sitting there, all unopened. I've spent the past several months writing a book about being a manic-depressive. When the book is finished... and not until then... I will open the packs and add those ships to my collection. Until then they sit next to the monitor as I write. For inspiration and motivation :)

I hope I can sell my book and that it gets to be a bestseller. Then I can buy more X-Wing Miniatures stuff!

I love how the X-Wing community is full of positive people and a sense of friends getting together for beers and games.

I've been thinking about getting rid of one of my many hobbies but Star Wars X-Wing never even made it on the should i get ride of it list ;) I also drive my wife nuts with Star Wars quotes.

I also love the Firespray! I don't care if it's wrong I don't wanna be right then! ^_^

In the meantime, I hope this forum continues to give you a reason to smile when you need it.

Just use the "I let you win so I wouldn't be that Dbag who crushes my girlfriend the first time she tried something I like" line, it *might* be believable if you make a bunch of stupid mistakes throughout the game. (or it might cause a fight that makes Palpatine and Mon Mothma look like Romeo and Juliet)
