I don't see any reason why FFG can't give me more ships for free after I buy 1. Okay, I guess they have to drop a quarter in the 3D printer to make them, so I'll pay twice what they do! 50 cents per extra model, generic pilots, dials, bases, tokens. Just not those super expensive unique pilot cards.

I understand what you want. It's you who doesn't seem to understand the business side of production of this game. I understand not wanting the wasted cards. But you fail to realize is that the price point you want isn't viable for FFG as a company. Add to the fact, that upping the price point is not a good thing for the game. Some people also only want one. And FFG has enough SKU's for stores to keep track of that adding another just to please a sub portion of the base isn't a viable business strategy.

I'm looking at it from a consumer that wants and extra model without extra uniques (that end up being useless). I've been playing these kinds of collectible games for years. If FFG were to do this, it'd literally be sticking two blisters together and doubling the price. Two cards aren't going to make a meaningful difference to price. There's no reason for them to do it except to forcibly sell more ships to people that would have bought an odd number.
