broken mini's

By wblackthorn, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

hi all

just a quick question has anyone had any broken mini's so far

i got my box yesterday and found two of the probe droids had come away from there bases,i will try and glue them back on but think they may break again.otherwise i'm very happy with the contents.

Yup, all three probe droids were DOA - broken off their bases like yours. I glued them, but they didn't hold very well, so I made a request for replacement. Haven't heard back yet.

I didn't have any broken ones, but I'm very wary of them breaking in the future. Not just the probe droids, but I think the power cable on the E-Web Engineers is at serious risk, too.

One of my droids was broken from it's base, but a dab of super glue and it's holding fast. Survived the painting process and a couple of games without a problem.

None of mine are broken.

2 survived. One snapped clean off. Wrong number of dice, too. See a lot of problems with those figures down the road.

"Those little droids are going to cause me a lot of trouble."

One broken Probe Droid here too. :-(

Same situation here. Probe droids broken.

I don't get my game till christmas morning....

If there are broken models what will FFG do about it? Who do I need to contact?

Go to the FFG home page, click "More" on the top nav bar, and choose Customer Service>Damaged/Missing Components. Fill out the form and that should be it. FFG has excellent customer service, especially when it comes to things being broken out of the box. Hopefully you won't have any casualties.

I've got two broken probe droids as well. They aren't particularly well seated on the base anyway. The one that remained attached is crooked/drooping to one side.

I'm not going to mess around with replacements. I plan to pin then to their base with a metal or clear rod. They'll be sturdier, and I can elevate the legs from the base so it appears to some degree as if they're hovering.

One of my probe Droids was off base but it's no big deal. I ma going to put everything on new bases anyway, plus i think I will put the PDs on clear flying base posts like X-Wing miniatures ships are on, raising them up off the base.

Has anyone, who found broken minis and contacted FFG about them, heard back from FFG?

I am guessing not, since it is the Holidays. Having said that, this seems to be a major quality control issue. I am one of 7 friends that bought this game. All 7 of us have damaged/broken minis. Interestingly, the 7 games were purchased in 7 different locations (3 different on-line retailers, and 4 different brick and mortar stores).

So this issue seems to be widespread. I am making the assumption that those with broken minis are contacting FFG, so I was hoping to hear from someone on whether or not they have gotten a reply as of yet. I will be sending in my request today.

Someone on BGG reported that in some regions of the world, FFG is telling people that due to licensing issues, they can't send out replacements.

I'm guessing, due to the holiday season and people on vacation, and the fact that there have been a lot of issues with this game (I had one probe droid broken, but a little super glue fixed it right up), that they have a backlog building up. FFG is usually fast with these things, but I've had them take a week or two to respond, and I've had many other companies take from 2 weeks to a month to deal with a replacement issue. So, especially this time of year, a little patience goes a long way.

So they can't fix it?

If this is the case I think I will just return my game unopened. I am not paying for broken stuff.

One snapped e-web cable which looks fixable and more bothersome both of the chin guns on the AT-ST were snapped off :( tried glueing them but it didn't hold so I rebuilt them from aluminium tubing.

Up until now, I have found FFG's support to be superlative. And I will wait to get an official response from them concerning my broken minis.

But ...

If they respond that they can't replace them because of licensing issues, that will most certainly be unacceptable, and I will return it. After all, I would do this for anything that came broken and I was told could not be replaced. I paid good money for this. At the very least, I will dispute the charge on my credit card.

One droid is ok two other snapped of base, everything else intact. Nothing that can't be fixed with some superglue tough, so I'm not gonna bother with FFG replacing things. Still think FFG could have used better components tough.

To everybody who hasn't bought/opened their copy: be carefull when you assemble the AT-ST. The chin guns are very thin plastic and they could snap off when you (have to) apply force to jam the chin gun piece in the socket.

Hmm, a lot of complaints and nobody has blamed Asmodee yet. :)

I opened my box today and everything is fine :)

Oh oh.

Got two sets, one for nephews and my girlfriend got me one as part of her Christmas present.

Both from different online retailers.

My girlfriend wrapped my copy with the rest of her presents for me.

Unwrapping them on Christmas Eve I was surprised to find she had removed the plastic seal on the box.

I just went through all the pieces today after the Holiday, and found out,

Missing pieces

One Stormtrooper

One of the Command Cards form the Darth Vader Villain Pack

Broken Pieces

One Probe Droid off its base

Darth Vader's Lightsaber broken off

Slight crack on the head of the ATST

On your Diala Passil [The Exiled Jedi] mini, is there extra molding on the mini between the body and her weapon?

I asked my girlfriend and she told me there was no seal on the box as far as she could remember, so it was possible my copy was not shipped in its seal.

I played with my nephews Christmas and I think their set was fine but now I may check the next time I visit.

I am not sure if I should contact the online retailer or Fantasy Flight regarding the missing card and pieces.

All of my minis were fine! However, I received a batch of bad tiles where they were mis-cut. Some pieces don't fit together and the grids don't even line up properly on over half of my maps.

Three issues, none of which are particularly horrible.

  • Two of three droids had 'broken legs', all of them right at the base. Some super glue and they were back in action.
  • One of the E-Web Engineers has a broken cable. Super glue again fixed the issue.
  • AT-ST: All pieces intact, but the chin gun - after being snapped in place - points straight down and won't hold any other position.

All in all, I wouldn't say the experience has been terrible but a bit disappointing for a game that retails around the $100 mark.

I contacted FFG back on 12/28/2014 about a broken probe droid and got a response back today that they have shipped a replacement Probe Droid out to me.
