This tournament was slated to be big and amazing. Then by 1pm in the afternoon the cancels started pouring in. By the end of it we had a scratch tournament with 4 players. Which was somewhat good in that we all got to fly each other. No questions who deserved to be where by the end of the day. (same strength of schedule).
The winning list was Airen Cracken with VI, Wedge Antilles with R2, Biggs, and a FCS Bwing at 99 points.
Second place was the twins. Echo and Whisper with ACD, VI, and FCS. Then 2 AP TIES.,
The rest of the lists were a 5 TIE Fighter, 2 TIE Bomber with proton torps.
The other list was Vader with Concussion Missiles and Shield Upgrade, Swarm Tactics, Turr Phennir, Mauler Mithal, and Dark Curse with Stealth Device.
That having been said I didn't take pictures of the lists this time so maybe not everything is right.
Airen Cracken draws the Vader and Friends Elite pilot list. Has a somewhat easy day trading biggs for Turr and Mauler. Before running Vader and Dark Curse into the ground while losing pretty much all their shields and some hull on the remaining three rebel fighters.
The Imperial Swarm plays against the Twins, and loses by 3 points, and flew an Academy pilot off the board with not much time on the clock because of a moment of picking the wrong direction near the board edge. 2 soft the other way was a brilliant move unfortunately it wasn't what was revealed. Game changing moment there.
Imperial Swarm draws Vader + Elites, knocks Dark Curse out of the sky on turn two and then has its dice go cold. Luckily turtling TIE fighters are hard to knock out of the sky. Game ends with only one Academy pilot dead and a lot of damaged swarm pilots. Which gives them the advantage by 8 points.
Airen Cracken draws the Twin Phantoms. The opening and somewhat fragmented combat round sees Cracken and Biggs swing between some rocks to engage a Phantom and a TIE, while Wedge takes on a TIE and a Phantom with the Bwing trolling in the back field with arc on everything at long range. Phantom jumps past wedge with a decloak and barely lands on the rock. Bwing trundles up with its previous round target lock on it and takes a focus and rolls quad hit. phantom wiffs its roll. Wedge mangles the other Phantom eventually due to having the iniative edge. Was a rare game over in only a few minutes.
Airen Cracken draws the swarm. game is a dog fighting mess. As the final round ends the TIE fighter has 3 dice and focus against a 1 hull Biggs. He rolls hit miss miss. Biggs rolls blank evade and pulls out the rebel win. The game featured a two turn span where a Bomber and a Bwing were both one volley shot out of the sky. A couple less bumps on the Imperial players turns over the course of the game and this might have been a blow out with more tokens to spread around on offense.
The Twins draw Vader and the Elites. Even with Initative Vader and friends didn't manage to punch many holes in the Phantoms. Game ended with Dark Curse trying to down two phantoms by himself and dying. Wasn't a game I had much time to spectate as by now we had a spare player show up to deal with most judge questions.
