Huge Ships and Their Upgrade Cards

By alexsaurus, in X-Wing

So I just got my first huge ship, the Tantive IV and I'm a little confused on how the upgrade cards work. I've checked the rulebook and can't seem to find an answer there.

Basically, how do you assign upgrade cards to a huge ship? I understand in dogfight there's a 100 point cap but I've read that doesn't apply to Epic battles. So is there a point cap for how many upgrades the Tantive IV can have or does it just get all of them? That seems like overkill to me.

Limited just like it is with small ships. Look at the bottom of the card. Upgrades are assigned to either the front or the back and both have their own limits.

Ok ok ok I think I'm starting to get it. You can probably tell I haven't messed too much with squad building in the first place. So essentially, the fore section of the ship has a limit of 50. So I can have as many upgrades as I want on that section, barring any special rules such as "Limited" upgrade cards, as long as the total points come out to 50 or below, correct?

Nope! Try again :P

Okay so let me try to help you out. The fore section combined with the aft section is a total of 90 squad points. That's WITHOUT upgrades. Each upgrade card you add costs additional squad points. So at the bottom right of each upgrade is a number. That number represents it's squad point cost. In Epic play, the tournament rules state that you can have a max of 300 squad points. So you can put as many upgrades on your 90 point ship as you want, as long as at the end of the day, your ENTIRE squad does not exceed 300 points. That includes any other ships and upgrades you take in addition to the Corvette.

In Standard Play, the official point limit is 100 points. So if you take Wedge Antilles in an X-wing. That's 29 points you spent right there without adding any upgrades to him. Add in a Rookie Pilot (21 points), Luke Skywalker (28 points) and another Rookie (21 points) and you have a total of 99 points. You have one point left over to use as you please.

The numbers on the bottom of the cards represents how much they cost, not how much you can spend on them with upgrades.

Does that make sense?

Okay, here's the front half of the CR-90 (you must take both halves, but I only found this one)

That black bar at the bottom shows which upgrades you can take for this ship(just like little ships). Most, if not all, of these will increase the point cost of the ship as you add them(just like little ships). The back half will have it's own bar at the bottom.

Thaaaaat helps out tremendously. I completely understand now. Thanks Darkspade and Jfits1431! You guys are awesome!

It's no different from small ships...

Just take C-3PO and assign to Han Solo.
