Advanced rip off

The catch there is there have been plenty of ways to run the Falcon successfully before C-3PO was around and many of them still work. The same really could be said about the upgrades in the Transport. But to have the Advanced be competitive in almost any sense of the word you'll HAVE to have the new upgrades.

Now if there are 4 copies of each of those cards then a secondary market (ebay) may emerge where they could be had for cheap. Looks to me like FFG is throwing a feast for those who purchased so many Advances although I guess many of those people will also be the ones who wouldn't think twice about buying the epic Imperial just for the cards.

I do plan to by the new ship and I still agree that it kinda sucks that there's no other way to get some cards than by buying specific ship. Hopefully all cards will eventually find there way in to more than one pack. I know I'd love another Stay on Target, but I have zero interest in a second YT-2400.

Oh good! Another entitled player complaining about stuff he doesn't have to buy!

...

I'm very tired of seeing flame threads.

Thank you FFG for giving us hope for the Empire AND means to laugh at those who complain about it!

I have three TIE/Ad already, and use Tempest with Prockets anyways right now. This is just going to make it even more fun to fly them.

I'm super excited for this release. I'm actually *excited* about X-Wing again.

Now this, boys and girls, is what we call "irony".

Ok, so here's my take on proxies. If it's not released yet, go for it, and don't be surprised if I run something unreleased as well. However, if it's been released, I like to see the real deal on the board. I am more than willing to lend a card or two, or even a ship though, and you can probably tell from my Sig that I probably have it to lend.

So, FFG fixed Avance. We were all waiting for this fix for a very long time and finaly it's here (or at least it will be). But why do we have to pay 99$ for it? I think it would be much better if we could buy upgrades for 100 points format with ships designed for 100 points games. Don't get me wrong, Epic is cool and it's good we have it but putting cards designed for standard play to a box with a 99$ price is a rip off.

If you want it enough, you'll buy it. Otherwise, you won't. Complaining that it's a 'rip off' (it's not) changes nothing.

Personally I want the Imperial Raider class corvette.....the TIE Advance and the upgrades for it are just an added bonus to the package. And a welcomed addition to the ship.... a rip off is the last thought on my mind on this. I see this as a win win situation...Ill be sure to think about everyone that thinks this release is a ripoff while I endulge myself in the divine darkside craftmanship of the two ships :)

I'm a college student who isn't sure how to pay my tuition or rent. My fleet is composed of an initial starter set I got as a gift, a few expansions I bought, and a large assortment of ships I won as prizes. Proxies are the only way I can play a lot of builds. So if someonecanlendit to me, great. If not, well, I'm tired of running the samelists over and over.

Well technically people who wanted the upgrades from the transport and corvette had to pay $150 for theirs.

To be honest I would like it if tournament kits included alternative artwork cards from the GR-75 set and the other big packs instead of cards that are in the core set and small expansions that we already have.

In my netrunner tournament I got a couple of promo Katie Jones and those 2 cards are awesome I can put them to work right away. I don't have the full set so I could buy a pack and then just move those over into show pieces but still it was nice to get something that can expand your play set instead of little show off pieces. I think alternative art C-3PO and the pilots in the Rebel Transport Set would make great tournament prizes.

I would totally lend you what you needed for a build. I just have to get it back by then end of them night.

That is something that could be considered. I'll say not everyone has access to those alternative cards but in theory everyone has access to their source if they can afford to purchase the right ships so at least they wouldn't be some "special" card that is only available as a tournament prize.

I guess an off shoot of that is that is many cases the ones most likely to "win" tournament prizes are also those most likely to have purchased the requirements to get the upgrade to begin with.

So funny some people talking about "Oh I HAVE to buy this ship if I want the TIE Advanced upgrades..."

This ship is the most beautiful ship FFG has ever announced. I know people who don't even play X-Wing that plan to buy one of these things just because of how amazing it looks. You shouldn't be saying "I HAVE to buy this". You should be saying "I GET to buy this!!!"

Stupid awesome looking ship, now I need to start an Imperial fleet

This ship is the most beautiful ship FFG has ever announced.

Hmpf. That's still the robust beauty of the CR90, its daring lines, its bold attitude of exploration and rugged certainty that it will get you there.

Since the transport was released, there has been exactly 2 games of epic played at my LGS and only 2 players bought the ships. Aside from the Tie Advanced ship and cards, this set would be a complete waste of money for me. The raider would sit in my closet next to my 3rd edition Eldar army collecting dust.

I wish there were an alternate way to get cards that can be used outside of epic that are exclusive to epic ships. You know like a $5 pack of cards.

Now consider why that was.

How many people would've played this game if it started out by only having one faction?

CAUSE ONLY REAL X-WINGERS DESERVE TO OWN IT!

3. It contains four copies of each card. Four. FFG knows it's an expensive pack and has scaled the number of titles they give you appropriately. They did the same with Chaardan Refit in giving you three. They're specifically setting it up so you don't have to buy multiples to get one particular card.

4. How many people have three TIE advanceds already and will have four come Raider?

*raises hand* *looks around*

Oh. That was rhetorical. Well. I do. :)

So, you wanted the update to the TIE Advanced, but not the Epic ship? Man, you must hate the game you love to play.

I'm buying it purely for the extra Tie Advanced in the box. Now I'll only have to two more to fill out a x4 TA list. Thanks FFG! :)

Ill be getting this...the TIE Adv is simply icing on the cake for me. I already have both epic ships (thanks Amazon!!) and have been clamoring for an Imperial ship to run them against for a long time...them single turbolasers will finally see some use!!

When FFG announced the long-awaited Imperial Epic ship, I was excited. And when I read that they, along with Lucasfilm Ltd., introduced a new ship to the canon of Star Wars specifically for this game, I thought that was a really clever solution to the problem of most iconic Imperial ships being too big for X-Wing play. However, my only let-down is that the solution to make the TIE Advanced competitive is also included in this expensive package.

There are many who say "We've had to buy the Corvette or the Transport to get really good upgrades. It's the Empire's turn to pay up too." While acquiring cards like C-3P0 is an expensive venture, please understand that those are cards to make good ships even better. What many of us in the Empire hoped was for a whole ship to be revitalized. Yes, we got our wish. And I'm thankful that FFG has done it in a way that doesn't ignore the TIE Advanced's that we already own (having more than one TIE/x1 Title Card). But the reality is, to make this ship work in competitive play, the price is $99.

I don't believe it's a rip-off. It's actually a really smart way to sell your higher-end products. And yes, you don't pay $99 just for a couple of upgrade cards. The new Imperial ship looks beast and for someone who previously didn't have an interest in Epic Play, the Raider is making me reconsider this notion, sending me into delusions of grandeur and conquest (though my wallet is most likely going to bring me to the ground again haha). And there are other Imperial lists out there that are very successful in tournament play. However, I really like the Advanced and wanted it to field it as part of my tournament squadron. It would have been nice to have them do to it what they did with Rebel Aces, have a $30 box with 2 ships and cards to make the A-Wing more appealing for competitive games. Yes, we could look online for the cards to get them at a lower price, but it would have been nice to acquire them directly from FFG without paying so much.

Of course, the new ship is cool. The way FFG handled the problem of Imperial ships being too big is great. If I ever have the budget for it, I'll probably get a Raider (and not just for the TIE Advanced upgrade cards). Still, looks like I'm going to have to wait a little more for the Advanced to be in my main tournament squad.

I'm buying it purely for the extra Tie Advanced in the box. Now I'll only have to two more to fill out a x4 TA list. Thanks FFG! :)

You actually need three more Raiders. Otherwise, the paint won't match.

I don't have any Epic ships, but even then, I'm likely to get the Raider. Looks too cool to pass up. I love Star Destroyers. The TIE Advanced is a nice bonus. Saving up $ now for the Raider.
