So, FFG fixed Avance. We were all waiting for this fix for a very long time and finaly it's here (or at least it will be). But why do we have to pay 99$ for it? I think it would be much better if we could buy upgrades for 100 points format with ships designed for 100 points games. Don't get me wrong, Epic is cool and it's good we have it but putting cards designed for standard play to a box with a 99$ price is a rip off.
Edited by OldsterAdvanced rip off
May I present to you

Yes. I know it is not the first time but it doesn't have to be the rule.

If you want it enough, you'll buy it. Otherwise, you won't. Complaining that it's a 'rip off' (it's not) changes nothing.
While I agree. Rebels have had this issue awhile. Various pilots and astromechs in the transport. Time for Empire to pay up lol.
Plus it only matters to the tourney players or groups that dont allow proxy in casual play.
I find your lack of faith... disturbing.
No freaking way.
I been wanting huge imperial ships for a long time.
To me this is just extra gravy.
If you don't want the huge ship I believe there are sites that sell cards only.
^That^
And theres always Ebay....
Edited by Bloodstripe BaronIt's almost like the internet isn't a thing if you want to buy the cards separately.
But why do we have to pay 99$ for it?
1. You don't have to.
2. It costs $99 or regional equivalent because it contains a CR-90 equivalent and a normal miniature.
3. It contains four copies of each card. Four. FFG knows it's an expensive pack and has scaled the number of titles they give you appropriately. They did the same with Chaardan Refit in giving you three. They're specifically setting it up so you don't have to buy multiples to get one particular card.
4. How many people have three TIE advanceds already and will have four come Raider? There'll be surplus titles on eBay if this turns out to be something tournament-worthy. Hell, if you know someone who's getting the Raider and doesn't have four x1s they'd probably give you their spares.
5. If you're not talking tournament, you don't actually need the cards any more than you need the actual A-wing Test Pilot and Chaardan Refit cards to reduce cost by 2 and give a second EPT slot. The focal point of the expansion is the Raider itself, the Advanced fix is already being applied to Casual games. We already have battle reports of it.
Edited by TIE PilotThe firm rumours for the last 4-5 months is that the fix would be part of the imp epic ship, why are people suprised? Also +1 to the net/eBay for cards

I agree with everything except #5. But that's just my personal preference. I'll almost never play with something that I don't own. On rare occasions I'll allow someone to playtest something that isn't out yet just to get a feel for it, but I really have this issue where I need to own it in order to use it. Otherwise there is virtually no point in buying stuff. I mean, I'd just use paper counters, and a breeze comes by and blows my fleet away

I'm like that too. I never run proxies, ever. I don't mind other people doing it, but it makes me twitch; the pedant in me can't handle it.

I beleive you must have the ship to play the ship. I can't hold someone to buying a ship they dont want just for some cards against them. Now you play the card all the time. We might have to have a talk.

I'm quite odd with it. I don't use things I don't have and I don't print proxies with one rather large exception. I'll happily "proxy" anything that's A: Unreleased so that I can't get them B: a fix and C: useless when the game starts. Chaardan Refit, A-wing Test Pilot, Royal Guard TIE are all examples of this in that they only affect what you can equip. An interceptor with two mods obviously has Royal Guard TIE, an A-wing with two EPTs has Test Pilot, a Y-wing with a Bomb has Bomb Loadout. You don't need these cards to define the ship's capabilities. Their only purpose is to prove the loadout is legal, beyond that they're just clutter. An A-wing with the PTL and Outmaneuver EPT cards tells you all you need to know, putting Test Pilot next to them does nothing but give you more cards to clean up.
Proton Rockets, however, would not use until I had them. Likewise, Autothrusters is a wordy card and even though we've said it's legal nobody's used it. BTL-A4 and Advanced Targeting Computer are a bit of a grey area because of their relative simplicity and that they're fixes for defunct ships. ATC I'm pretty sure will be "proxied" and BTL-A4's a possibility.
Edited by TIE PilotI envy you guys. There are no shops with X-wing where I live. I know that internet is a solution to many such problems and I can buy everything on E-bay but very often I face situation when for a cost of such cards (plus shipping to Europe) I could buy couple of ships. I still think that it would be better if we got cards for standard play with ships for standard play. In such way Epic would get more cards and could be much more developed, interesting and overall better format on it's own.
Edited by OldsterRemember, Reb players had to buy the transport and the CR90.
Keep an eye out for the trade thread here and the modelling threads. If modellers get commissions they might have surplus cardboard.
It only matters if you play tournaments.
Otherwise, just proxy. FFG provides fairly hi-res images of future cards. You can print them out and they're very legible.
I don't like proxies. I wouldn't like playing against someone with proxies either.
Then again, I don't particularly care about the cost.
Oh good! Another entitled player complaining about stuff he doesn't have to buy! It's like there isn't a competitive list he could field without this option!
Seriously, this this thread is pointleas as it gets around here. I'm very tired of seeing flame threads. We just got a preview of something really awesome and that people have wanted for some time and people still find something to ***** about. I love this forum, but I can't believe the nerve of some people here.
I saw that ship and I was kinda like what is it ? And then I said to myself, Who cares its Imperial . It sits on 2 bases. It will be mine. End of story anything else is just candles on my birthday cake.

Well, you have a point. I guess that accepting the fact that I can't have everything makes me more grateful for what I already have ![]()
I'm glad you came to a more positive conclusion. :3
