Armada - £46 on Amazon UK, with price guarantee

By Extropia, in Star Wars: Armada

Bah. Just boycot Amazon. Their a greedy tax evading company who treat their staff like cr*p. Use actual online game retailers! Iguk, gameslore or Gameguru (UK) or better still go to a local store and give them the business!

Also they're not their.

Got the cancellation notice (uk) sent an email on the 3rd querying "non availability" comment. A polite email, no response.

Saw from the comments here that they had re-listed Armada so have just sent another email. Again polilte.

This is second time this year they have cancelled an order and then re-listed the product. First time was a book which I ended up getting cheaper from another source. So score :-)

Even if Amazon respond it's immaterial, I've asked the local FLGS to resevere a copy. Never been a fan of Amazons business practices so this has just given me the kick up backside to cancel all orders with them. One of the local FLGS's is generally a quid cheaper then anywhere. So Armada was probably the last gaming order i placed with them anyway.

Sorry but you are wrong; "their" is correct in this instance ("they're" is a shortened version of "they are", which would not make sense in this context) :P

Neffer was correct ("they're" is a shortened version of "they are", which would not make sense in this context) :P

It is used twice in the sentence, once properly and once improperly.

lol all this over a tiny typo :D

Went to send them a message again and my old order number is no longer recognisable even in the cancelled order section :/

I stand corrected on my correction of your correction ;) (I somehow missed the first occurrence)

New order made, Amazon emailed enclosing my support email promising to honour the price. Lets see how that goes :)

I notice the new release date is 22nd April :/

Went to send them a message again and my old order number is no longer recognisable even in the cancelled order section :/

It is faster to just start a chat room with one of their support guys than waiting for Email.

My brother did and it took like few minutes. He had his order number in his Email and he just told the details about order and its cancellation and copy pasted his order number. That support guy then looked into it and checked if he can do it and managed to get the price down to that price prior canceling.

Had to make new order though.

I just spoke to support and got this:

"I've spoken with a team lead and we need to wait for a response from the technical/pre-order team etc from the case we have raised about this issue, as soon as I have an update on this I will email to let you know so thanks for your patience with this. Please note it can take up to 5 business days but seeing as it was already raised the other day it shouldn't take too long now."

Doesn't sound especially promising to me...

No update yet :(

Woo! I didn't get a reply from them like they promised so I nagged them again on their online chat aaaand:

They also gave me free first class delivery when I asked, as I'd been on Amazon Prime when I placed the original order. Now I just need to make sure there's money in the bank...

Also, isn't that pixelizing effect I used to obscure my address cool (you need to zoom in to see it properly)?

Yeah, mine got honoured too. Success!

Glad they honoured that price for the lucky few. Still gutted I missed out on that price though :(

You really just need to find the right rep. I reached a gall on the phone a few days ago who is not only honoring the preorder price but even checking on the status of the game and is going to call me back after it launches to see if I want anymore. I basically explained that I had got the discounted price, but that I had a few buddies who had wanted to get into the game as well but had missed the deal. Being an avid table-top gamer herself, she said to see how many they wanted and to order through her on my account and she would just increase the quantity and match the price. So again just saying, you really just need to reach the right rep, or have a good friend who is getting the price honored who can pick you up an extra.

Wow, that was a good bit of haggling, well done :) Unfortunately, none of my friends ordered from Amazon plus I committed to a pre-order from my FLGS who did it at a decent price.

Having said I wouldn't order from Amazon after they cancelled, they then sent an email saying that they would honour the original price. The £46.

If you read the Amazon T&C's they do have the right to cancel. (my highlight)

"Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items in our catalogue may be mispriced. We will verify pricing when processing your order and before we take payment. If we have made a mistake and a product's correct price is higher than the price on the website, we may either contact you before dispatch to request whether you want to buy the product at the correct price or cancel your order. If a product's correct price is lower than our stated price, we will charge the lower amount and send you the product."

However what they did was cancel on the grounds that they couldn't get stock from the supplier, not that they had mispriced the item. Not an expert on selling law, so not sure if fibbing to your customers in that way is high on the smack down list.

Anyway, they asked me to email the original order number and are honouring the price.

One knock on effect. I ended up cancelling a number of other orders with Amazon and have found other suppliers for the items. And i'll probably stay with those new people as they seem to be doing ok so far. Normally I wouldn't have picked up an FFG item from Amazon, I prefer the 3 local shops, but when they were selling at the original price it was hard to refuse.

Now I have to resist buying a second core set at the higher price :-)

Aye, my LGS fully understand why I'm buying the core set through Amazon - nearly 50% off is hard to compete with. Plus they know I'll still be buying the expansions through them :)

EXACTLY. If they had come out and said "we misplaced it, see our T&C's here" I think we would have been miffed but accepted it. It was the way they did it with the "we can't get this" email, the re-listing it ONE week later that riled me.

And finally, at the 11th hour, they have decided to honour my original order. They get no brownie points for doing the right thing, after what they pulled. I had to fight every step of the way.

That's odd, my brother got in touch with them and they've refused to match his old price.

Like with any other companies service departments, it all depends what rep you get. If it's important enough to you, try again. If not, that's fine too, the only option I don't recommend is to be bitter about getting the wrong rep when you contact them.

Yeah, I suggested he tries again, and points out that they've matched mine and other peoples. If all else fails, I suppose I can let him have one of mine for the lower price (or to make it simpler, I'll give him ~£25 when he orders his for £70).
