One of the lesser-discussed parts of the Raider reveal is the actual base of the ship. It looks like FFG is borrowing one of their innovations from Armada and shifting us away from the standardized 90-degree firing arcs from before.
Looking at the Raider's base, we see that the forward firing is a wide angle that starts from the midpoint of the ship. The rear arcs also follow asymmetrical angles, and pair additional forward options with a wide rear blind spot that's even larger than the CR90's. This thing should have punishing forward firepower, but will likely be susceptible to flanking attacks and from the rear.
Firing arcs have been one of the more static elements in the game, and I hope we see more ships play with unconventional angles in the future.
