IMPERIAL HUGE SHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

By DailyRich, in X-Wing

AH! YES! YEEEEEEEES! MuhahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAh

But im sorry to say that the epic ship sucks ... somehow

I mean ... solar wings like an interceptor? oh common!

If I get one, my first duty will be to snap them off ...

I'm with you on this. I love everything about the drop EXCEPT for those wings - it just looks a little too clumsy to me.

Still - I'll be snagging one on day one.

I thought of this as well...but the contention comes from what it says on the card...that dial came with his card so it is safe to assume that that would be the correct dial. The upgrade cards interact the pilot card...not the dial. General consensus seems to state these will work on vader. But I think further clarification is in order.

Except it doesn't work like that. Vader either counts as a TIE Advanced for everything, or he doesn't work with anything that refers to the TIE Advanced.

I beg to differ...why was the distinction even made? I don't think it's as simple and black and white as hour have made it out to be. Ffg has never put components in a pack that the containing ship couldn't use. I look to the pilot card more so than the dial to determine what the pilot is flying (and this has only come up w the adv.)

But this argument is ultimately futile. I am sure this will he clarified and I am pretty certain it will come down on vader being able to use these new cards. We agree there...it just needs to be clarified for future reference.

For those asking about Vader Epic, the opponent chooses the section he damages.

I see it now...

If a huge ship suffers damage from a source that does not explicitly affect a single section, the opposing player chooses which section suffers the damage. Crippled sections cannot be chosen.

I think they make the ship look menacing as hell. First thing I'll be doing is giving mine Bloodstripes.

Because it is fluff. This game was made before FFG really started to put serious thought into what a tournament game needs. So, the rules are not as tight as they needed. Just look at the headaches Cluster Missiles causes.

For those unsure of the crew card pictured as palpatine, it is him. Look to the Star Wars card game, the balance of the force expansion or the winter 2014 tournament kit dark side box. Both have that palpatine art on them. It is him.

ATC is a bit of a gut punch to the TIE defender though...

The pedantry is strong with this one.

Well, maybe. But the ATC is such a great card when working alongside Vessery, and now there is a mid-low cost Imperial ship. The fact that you can have similarly tanky ships who are cheap enough to pair with Defenders makes Defenders much easier to fit into 100 points and thus more useable.

Like the Z-95 did for very-high cost Rebels, the TIE - Ad can now do for mid-high cost Imperials.

You do realize that Darth Vader flew a Tie Advanced x1 prototype? And that Storm and Tempest Pilots are flying a limited production run Tie Advanced?(lore wise)

For your argument to make sense, anyone who has EVER fielded Darth Vader has fielded an illegal ship, as his pilot card has no legal dial.

Also the title says Tie/x1, not Tie Advanced x1, like Vader's pilot card, so you still don't have anything.

Its a wee bit of fluff. Move on. Let go.

Pretty much. How often do you round out a Rebel squad with a B-Wing? Or, heck, two? That's where I see the Tempests finding a home, and for 42 points you've got two 3AGI 5HP ships with Accuracy Correctors that can bolster almost any other Imperial ship or half-squad. That's two beefy Squints, a Defender and change, a Phantom and change, a Howl+3 Miniswarm, or a loaded Decimator. Plenty of options, and that hasn't even touched the Unique pilots.

I'm really excited for all this, people are going to be swimming in viable options for the 2015 tournament season. Between this and Scum, I am now at a complete loss as to what Nationals will look like.

I know that I am a little late to the Thread, but there are 4 copies of the title and 4 copies of the Adv. TC pictured...I might have to get another couple Advances to go with my only one now.

Idea stolen. I want a model company to put out a larger model kit so I can make a shelf version. ISD's are spooky looking sure, but this thing is a slick stalker and the last thing I want showing up on my rear quarter. It's so menacing

Who else is as giddy as a school boy!?!?!?!

I am a schoolboy (at school) and I am VERY giddy.

I'm wondering if this is gonna be 2 epic points or 3. If it's 2, we're all doomed...

I am beyond impressed FFG. I'm still picking my jaw up off the floor here. I feel like every major hole in the Imperial's arsenal just got fixed in a single release. The Decimator was a pleasant surprise, but no one could have ever predicted that you would be allowed to design your own ship and add it to Star Wars canon. And it's so beautiful and deadly looking. Wow.

I mean seriously, WOW.

Ozzel and Palpatine! Now just put in Piett and Thrawn and I may never stop my eyes from tearing up.

And that doesn't even touch on the TIE Advanced fixes. You took the least used and least effective ship in the game and made it very interesting indeed while finally giving the Imperials a viable mid-cost ship that isn't fragile. It was so badly needed. I LOVE Interceptors but an alternative was needed.

Between this and the excitement of a third faction I couldn't be more thrilled with this game right now. You guys keep hitting it out of the park which is impressive given your overall lack of experience in the miniature gaming arena. This is really THE game as far as I'm concerned.

Just well done all around. I can see myself playing this game years from now.

And seriously, who designed the Raider? It's awesome. You guys have got to post the full "behind the scenes" on it's development.

Adv targeting computer rocks for advanced, here are some numbers:

Spend Target Lock:

2 Averages 1.5 hits

3 Averages 2.25 hits

Use Adv targeting Computer:

2 Averages 2 hits

3 Averages 2.5 hits

Its better on average, one of those hits is a crit on the adv targeting computer and it costs 1 Pt on the advanced.

On the B-Wing not so much (and it costs 5). Well designed designed combo of cards.

Spend Target Lock:

3 Averages 2.25 hits

4 Averages 3 hits

Use Adv targeting Computer:

3 Averages 2.5 hits

4 Averages 3 hits

The card says primary and advanced only. Makes my Kenyan Super Laser Build sad :(

Kenya has developed a Super Laser? Talk about WMD. We need to invade, stat!

Oh...wait.

I hope we didn't invade Iraq based off an autocorrect typo.

but would 4 tie adv be "fluffy". I mean I only have 6 tie fighters and 3 interceptors....Kinda want to keep a fluff ratio....

I've already got 3 Advanced, and this will make 4. I'm almost tempted to get 2 more, just to keep the synergy.

That's why I have 9 squints.

Dammit, FFG -- I was supposed to do some work at work today.

That being said; very nice, and thank you.

Thanks for your substantial contribution!

Free upgrade, no drawback, no unique limitation. Interesting. Well, this officially means every single tie advanced will have a system upgrade. There's literally no reason not to.

Agreed - that's sort of disappointing to see.

I would have preferred a slightly more powerful upgrade that HAD a cost...or maybe a similar upgrade with a serious opportunity cost or disadvantage or something...

As it is, there is nothing balancing this out - sure, the Advanced needed a fix, but...this way...as noted, it's just a card every TIE Advance will always be taking.

Kinda...lame.

Maybe. The only opportunity cost would be if they eventually came out with a second title for the TIE Advanced, and by using this one you couldn't use the other. But still, there is no reason to go without any title (that we know of yet).

I'm wondering if this is gonna be 2 epic points or 3. If it's 2, we're all doomed...

If it's 2, then I'm gonna take my 6 current TIE Advanced, then buy 2 Raiders, then I'll have 8 TIE Advanced and that shoudl be enough to give me a full blown 300 point buid of 8 TIE Advanced..... all with titles and ATCs.... overload of awesome!

I'm wondering if this is gonna be 2 epic points or 3. If it's 2, we're all doomed...

Im guessing 4, and the gozanti will be 1. Just to be different than the CR90+GR75 combo

Assuming we get a Gozanti.
