IMPERIAL HUGE SHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

By DailyRich, in X-Wing

Omggggg! Horde time! My Empire is now just a Slave 1 away! Ready the war against the rebels!

Looks like you TIE Advanced fans are about to be very happy.

I was just thinking 'why doesn't it say "you may spend your target lock to add one Critical Hit to your roll"?', but reading it it means you don't spend your target lock to add that crit. Even better!

Also, yes, that Huge Ship looks cool. If it doesn't come with four of the TIE Advanced cards then I'll have to buy two!

does the front section have a new action?

I cant tell....

Given that vader's card lists his ship as an advanced x1 can he use the title or is it the ship type icon that counts?

Otherwise: woo hoo! I'll take two!

That... is an excellent question.

Yeah. There's a requirement that you HAVE a target lock to get the free critical hit, and you're not even ALLOWED to spend the target lock, but that's probably OK if you're just going to keep using that upgrade card each turn. First turn, target lock, unmodified attack with an extra critical hit. Subsequent turns, focus while keeping your target lock to get modified attacks with the extra critical hit. Pretty good. Just gotta have a target lock on the ship you're shooting at, though, which may be difficult at times.

The ship looks fantastic. I love that they developed their own ship rather than trying to ram something in that doesn't quite fit (obligatory Lancer joke)

Well, you're specifically not allowed to spend target locks at all if you use this ability. It's simply not an option.

EDIT: Ninja'ed

Ha, ha, ha... they did a **** combo including all of the better details from the cool Imperial Corvettes, and put the **** TIE Advanced in the box!

Notice the Vigil'ish Bridge...

;)

I Love IT!

Nice work FFG!

^_^

It looks great, although I'm a bit disappointed that the tie advanced fix is in a $100MSRP package. I'm interested in epic, but find it difficult enough to find time to play a regular 100 point game so I know there's no point in getting the huge ships. Hopefully I can find someone who only wants the raider and is willing to sell off all of the tie advanced bits. I relize I can proxy for friendly games, but it's somehow just not the same as having the cards on the table.

Can anyone make out who the PS 8 Advanced pilot is? Looks like there will be a PS 7 included as well!

Mareek + Predator + Title + Advanced Targeting Computer

Also, no one has mentioned this. But dat paint job. Mmmmmmm.

AdvTC has me feeling DTF + R2D2 or R5P9 will have a harder protecting Biggs

Looks like we get two more of the generic pilots (Storm and Tempest), which means three other named pilots besides Commander Alozen.

From the article: "The Imperial Raider Expansion Pack comes with six ship cards for the TIE Advanced, including four new, unique pilots, and it also introduces two potent, TIE Advanced only upgrades – the TIE/x1 Title and the Advanced Targeting Computer system upgrade." So yeah, four named pilots. Quite an expansion of options for that ship.

The article mentions Vader using the upgrade, so I would think it would be okay.

Nailed it:

I still think the Victory IIF is worth considering. Almost nothing else is comparable in size to the CR-90. This one is, because it was its direct counter in BF2.
I still also think FFG should invent one on their own. That is how stuff got into the EU in the first place, people just making sh*t up [with license]. A favorite prolific example is the Decipher CCG from the 90's. I wouldn't think it unreasonable that FFG could be given some allowance to that end.

Not the first time I posited FFG could make up their own stuff, either. I feel vindicated now.
Also I like that we have an amalgam of ideas; the Raider ends up being a Skinny Vigil or Sort-Of-Victory-II.

That looks tasty.

That being said, do I really want to pay that much to make the Advanced worth it? You better get more than one of each of those per set.

I can't see them not putting at least two of each in there.

You get four of each.

A lot of people only have one or two advances, myself included. I will probably sell off a couple pairs of those upgrades when the time rolls around. Having 4 really makes it worth it to team up with someone on the purchase.

Shut up and take my money!!

I think the unique pilots are PS5, 6, 8 ... and I don't know which one is to the left of the PS5. Is it a unique PS2?? Can't be. It looks PS2 or 3. Definitely not a 4 or 5.

The upgrade card next to Palpatine definitely looks like Admiral Ozzel to me.

I'll read this thread in a moment but all I want go say right now is "HELL YEAH!!"

Saw the $100 MSRP and felt relieved, honestly, I was worried it would be closer to $120. It won't be too bad to save up for, especially since their Q1 estimation is probably a liiitle optimistic.
