I like how the slot for the Firespray is actually an insert for this tray.

I need to order some trays I've been making do with my 40k ones, terminator trays fit most fighters but not everything.
@ LordCole - Thanks for sharing!
I was hoping they'd come out with Wave 5 trays soon.
I've been looking at all the storage options out there as I'm having to upsize and reorganize due to the - seemingly exponential - growth of my collection. I've been using a couple Sabol cases I had lying around for ages, but they are to the point of overflowing right now. I've been looking at Battlefoam (I have <ahem> several of their cases), but for my X-wing minis I'm leaning more towards getting KR. I have a case from them now (I got it for Dropzone Commander) and I like it, although it's too small to hold all my X-Wing minis. I guess I like the fact that each slot can hold a "plethora"
of different model types, so I don't have to get dedicated slots like a BF case. Nothing against BF, but I like the versatility of the KR trays. And I can get the trays in color and color code my forces, because I'm OCD like that. ![]()
Does anyone have any experience with KR cases for X-Wing as far as fit goes? Any info you have to help me make my decision would be appreciated.

I have all my ships stored using KR cases, when I get home this evening I can pm yoy
I use KR for all my ships, inc the huge ships, all a good fit and the soft foam protects them well
I'd stear clear of the token trays, dial trays and template trays in favour of more ship trays
Be more than happy to post some pics of my trays/ cases if you want
I never have any issue with the tokens. These photos are from after wave 4, though I have to get s a couple more cases to fit the rest of the ships I have...
This is from last spring I think.

I keep most of the ship tokens on the bases and am starting to put the maneuver dials with the ships in their slots.
Cards are not sleeved. Infact sleeved cards will not fit... you can buy the ship trays separately if that is all you need, if you are sleeving your cards I suggest a simple deck box.
The Token trays are 1/4 depth as you can tell by the images, pulling from the box they are flexible so use two hands, I am building a custom case for the set and plan on reenforcing the trays with thin MDF to keep thing stable.

My first falcon sort of swam around in the tray; KR has released a spacer, or you can make on with the foam that you remove from the cutout, it is now in there where it will not move around while transporting. I can fit two Falcons in there.
I have the token trays loaded up, my only regret is that I did not wait long enough to get this, now all my trays are blue instead of Red/Green/Yellow to match factions.
Sorry about the washed out image, it was a sunny day and my old phone shot crappy pictures.
After Girlfriendclaus is done giving gifts I take a new shot with the Corvette nesting.
Edited by LordColeOnce dropped my case part open, tokens everywhere, since that day I've used a compartment box that fits in the KR double backpack
I put the movement dials and ship bases in each compartment with the ship, saving space for ore ship trays :-)
All my pilot cards I put in a folder which fits in the front poket of the KR backpack and all upgrade cards in the other side pocket
I messaged KR Multicase via Facebook and said that they will be crafting a tray, in January, for nothing but Maneuver dials and Ship tokens, the tray should look something like the XW2:

I am.

Nice, comfortable.
They have trays for EPIC ship. Didn't buy it, but may be will buy.
Edited by michigun@ LordCole - Thanks for the info! One thing I didn't like about most of the cases I looked at is no dial storage. This makes lean even more towards getting a KR case.
@ michigun - Yup, I remember your thread. What I was looking for was more detailed comments on how each ship fits into it's slot. Are any of them tight, problems with cannons, etc. getting caught on the foam while taking them out/putting them in, that sort of thing.
Do you send to Mexico???, greettings.

I honestly do not know, Kaxel, have a look at the KR Multicase website.

large ships store without stands.
small rebel ships store with stands.
many of smal imp ships I store with disconnected stands. They fit with stands, but tight a litle. I prefer to disconnect - more simple to take out.
It is Tie Fighter (I own 4), Defender, Phantom. Take a look:
May be I am worry more then need, and you will not worry about it and will store with connected stands.
Absolutely no problem with guns or something else. I preffer to store disks with ships, so I don't use foam for disks and pilot token.
So I can recommend KR foam and cases.
P.S. Also they have foam for epic ships - I think it will make sense for me in the future.
Edited by michigunOk, thanks, greettings.
Hi, I also use KR and would rate them 9/10. Only minor niggles from being perfect. Here's my experiences re fit;
Imperial
tie bombers, interceptors and advanced fit perfectly on stands in std 10 fighter trays. I also find std tie fighters a bit tight when fitted onto their stands (although they do technically fit but like Michigan I prefer to store them with the stem unattached to the base).
The phantoms and defenders don't fit in the std 10 fighter trays when attached to their bases. For these the 7 fighter trays (designed for HWKs/B-wings) are much better although the defenders still aren't perfect.
The slave/lambdas fit fine in their slots but cannot be stored attached to their bases. There is plenty room to store their stems/bases in the slots in the same tray (usefull since I store all my dials & small ship base cards in a plastic multi-compartment box that wouldn't fit the large bases/cards in).
Rebel
A-wings, E-wings, X-wings, Z-95s all fit fine in std 10 fighter trays on stands. B-wings, Y-wings and HWKs need to be in the 7 fighter trays to be able to be stored on stands (the Y-wings will fit on stands in std 10 fighter trays BUT their cockpit/nose doesn't sit within the cut out space instead protruding out from it. Whilst this doesn't stop you getting them in there and closing the case it doesn't sit well with my OCD so I store them in the side on spaces designed for the HWKs and they fit in there perfectly).
The falcon fits fine in its tray although it is a little deep so if you had two Falcons I'd definately recommend the thin falcon separator sheet which will allow you to stack two of them in there with the separator sheet stopping them rubbing on each other (I got mine before that came out).
The huge ships fit fine (off stands obviously) in their trays although annoyingly there isn't a dedicated cut out to store their base cards/movement templates which also don't fit in the plastic multi-compartment boxes I use so they just float about in the KR case with their respective ships (although this hasn't done them any damage to be fair). Note the KR cases come in either "1/2" or "1" sizes which is equivalent to 2 or 4 std individual trays respectively. I mention this because the tantive tray is actually 3 std trays to accommodate the fat-ass (tall) engine block (that'd make it a big-block hemi engine right? Or am I hopelessly showing my ignorant UK knowledge here?)
There aren't any real issues with damage risks to weapons etc as far as I can see although I have snapped a Z-95 cannon off when I wasn't paying attention when I got it out on an angle and the cannon snagged on the foam but that was entirely my bad.
Anyhoo I hope this helps (I can sort some specific photos if yo need but the ones already posted look pretty good tbh). Oh and merry Christmas to everyone btw
Edited by BikeanimalOh btw not sure if you are interested in this info at all but regarding bags that you can get to carry the cardboard cases in;
I have a couple of the K-lite bags which are like a thin nylon satchel with a single shoulder strap. The Kaiser bag I have is more like a laptop bag for the case and although significantly better quality it is significantly more expensive (about the price of a size 1 case itself vs ~£6-7 for the K-lite). The bags, even the aluminium attaché style cases are pretty pointless for just storage but great for transport as they look like any normal bag. For me I'm going to stick to the K-lite bags as they're so much cheaper than the Kaisers/backpacks (although you can only get them to fit a single size 1 case whereas you can get the Kaisers, backpacks and attachés to carry 2 size 1 cases (or upto 8 cases for the attaches which look like a travel trunk) which may sway your choice...)
