Dash (crew) vs Dash (pilot)

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

Well just the other day I flew Dash but not as the rock bouncing maniac he was. Instead I took the Crew dash in a Ps 2 Wild Space Fringer. -_- ( I couldn't aford the points with Wedge and Intimidation Arvel.)

Well the one thing is that Dash Crew is Amazing. He can attack on rocks (even though I didn't fly him on any) and he can fire through rocks without having any obstruction penalty which is awesome. Yeah I probably should have put him on a better Pskill ship like Han but I gave it a try.

So for Dash Crew I found him well forgiving of mistakes allowing you to shoot on rocks but also potent if carefully piloted allowing you to shoot through asteroids and debris clouds without giving extra evade dice. (I still lost to Whisper)

I have seen Dash pilot fly and had the experience of loosing a match against the pilot so I know his abilities to barrel roll off rocks thus never missing a chance to shoot due to obstacles. Plus the Skill 7 is nothing to laugh at.

So with Dash Pilot it allows him to ignore obstacles in the activation phase. Dash Crew allows the ship to ignore obstacles in the combat phase.

So Pilot vs Crew, which Dash do you like better and why? (I'm leaning to the Crew)

I prefer the crew dash, sure ignoring obstacles is nice but you land on a rock your not shooting, denying cover from asteroids combined with the HLC denying range bonus due to being a secondary weapon is just really good.

I agree but it still seems like the meta favors Dash pilot

The big difference is that the crew Dash takes up an incredibly valuable crew slot. Theres a LOT you can put in there on a Pilot-Dash to push him a lot higher.
