Lone wolf what is the best ship to put it on? (What is the worst?)

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

Okay so Lone wolf is a unique EPT, which means you can only have one of them. That is it, one and only one.

So with this awsome line up of ships from core to wave 5 which one do you think should get it. Categories are

  • the best ship
  • the best pilot or the best build
  • and how about what not to put it on so the worst ship or pilot or build?

So for best ship I don't know how about a Tie Defender. Why because it has the highest stats for both attack and agility and lone wolf allows you to re-roll one dice from each of those.

Best Build wll alot of super-dash well you know outrider HLC and lone wolf builds.

Worst build possibility of a HWK-290 as it buffs ships.

Well those are mine how about yours?

Worst is any ship with a setup that requires short range. Biggs, Garven and Dutch are all bad options. Best? High PS heavy hitters you'd usually put Predator on. Rexler and Wedge come to mind.

SuperDash uses PTL.

Well, let's start:

Best ship, the one mith the most combined attack and defense die. I'd say a HLC defender would be the very best, because gives the upgrade the most value. The more dice, the more blanks you can possibly roll, and that's when LW shines. Also, every ship with 3 dice attack 3 dice deffense could shine. E-wing, Defender, and to a lesser extent, Interceptors.

Best pilot, Luke. Great defense with very little investment for a stressbot (R3-A2) or a very durable fighter (R2-D2). Engine could improve his chances even more. N'dru Shulak's z95 with cluster missiles would give you two 4 dice attacks with a reroll on each! Want to crush a decimator for no points?

Worst pilot/ship, well, anyone with a skill that needs you to be close to your squad. Howlrunner, Biggs, or Serissu come to my mind.

My two cents.

what about putting it on a phantom?

I thought about throwing away the initiative build. Whisper still manages to play after dash if you go for 1 point initiative build. Alsho, you are shoting before everyone but PS 8+, being the most problematic Corran, or Han.

Whisper 32

Lone Wolf 2

AcD 4

FCS 2

Stygium could be nice also, but AcD still protects you A LOT against most enemies in the game. You could also go more deffensive with Recon Spec, or Rebel Captive. also can switch FCS for Tactical Jammer. Weren't we talking about Lone Wolf? xD

i second the Luke idea. Luke, LW, R2-D2 and Engine are great.

Rexler with a HLC hanging back while a mini swarm rushes in and blocks is my plan, he'll coast in 2 a turn ripping into the enemy while they try to avoid the sacrificial academy pilots.

The ship on the card seems like a good choice to me.

This dude:

A generic Scum Firespray with a Recon Specialist seems like a good place.

Dash

Lone Wolf

Recon specialist

HLC

Title

It's almost as mobile as Super-Dash because he's not stuck on greens. And he is more accurate and tankier. Also this build is just mathematically superior to 58-pt Super Dash in a 1v1.

Corran. That double tap becomes nasty.

Any ship with at least 3 attack and 2 evade, that doesn't have a pilot ability that requires close proximity to allies, needs Push the Limit, or wants to use target lock.

How about sticking it on a flanking Mauler Mithel, Turr Phennir or Tetran Cowall ... or a Saber/Royal

Would make them scary a bit.

I used it on boba the other night, paired with a rec spec.

It triggers nearly every time. Totally worth it on defense too.

I can imagine it being killer on Boba Fett,

Now if you want a terrible ship to put it on, Howlrunner.

Airen Cracken.

Best: whoever you flank with, An A-wing test pilot or Sexy Rexy.

Worst. Howlrunner.

Rexler with a HLC hanging back while a mini swarm rushes in and blocks is my plan, he'll coast in 2 a turn ripping into the enemy while they try to avoid the sacrificial academy pilots.

Rexler, HLC, Lone Wolf, Shield Upgrade

x2 Academy Tie Fighters, x2 Obsidian Tie Fighters

10 Wins - 2 Losses

I doubt that it can win a large tournament but it is so much fun to play with!

Worst to me is Biggs.

Worst to me is Biggs.

That may be the winner right there.

Works worst on ships with no movement actions. This allows you to skip taking target locks or focuses all the time and you can arc dodge and adjust your positioning easier.

I like it a lot on Corran, Dash, and Luke. I've been running it a lot on Dash with RecSpec, he becomes much harder to focus fire down and still has a good offensive punch. Obviously the named Firesprays would also work well, as would most TIE/ints.

Luke and Corran are both good with it since they are tough to kill as-is and combining R2D2 and some re-rolls to it makes it much worse.

I think most of the bad ones people have listed. I would not go with it on a Phantom, since ACD/VI is so important to their survival right now. Obviously Decimators don't get much out of it either, unless perhaps you go Kenkirk.

Something Interesting I haven't tried is on a Falcon. I could see where Lone Wolf kind of gives you Predator/3PO in one upgrade. Lando (crew) would be interesting on that as well. Thinking Chewy/LW/Lando. Basically you try to get a lot of mileage out of Lando (provided you don't get 2xBlanks!) since you have a reroll and the ability to get Focus/Evades.
