Brainstorming future content

By Leveton, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So, I think we all know there are a lot of characters and locations players would like to see in future expansions. But what about other kinds of future content? Item cards, supply cards, heroes, reward cards, skirmish missions, or command cards?

I had an idea just a little bit ago: an ion pistol and/or rifle. It's not particularly better than any of the heroes' starting weapons, except when shooting at droids, when it gets an extra red die, or a flat damage boost, or stuns any droid it hits, etc., something along those effects.

For a hero, what about a demolitions expert? He can spend an action and a strain (maybe it would take two) to put an explosive charge token in his space or an adjacent space. At the end of a round, he can choose to have it explode to deal X damage to all figures and objects in that space and all adjacent spaces. He would have a good dice pool for tech tests. Heck, make him a droid demolitions expert. His side quest reward could increase the damage of his explosive charges. And the reward card would be named "J-ME wants big boom." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxhF7iBueeE

Those are good ideas... the Ion gun would fit in especially well if they do a Clone Wars era expansion. I also think a Demo expert is a great idea... I can think of some great missions for a character like that :-)

I want a droid character.

I also want to play as the scum and villainy faction in campaign mode.

Gimme some bounty hunting heros.

I was thinking about how they would incorporate astromech droids into this game. My suggestion is a pilot type hero with an astromech familiar that helps said hero with tech tests and doors. Perhaps the droid has the ability to close doors that have previously been opened, can unlock doors really easily.

If FFG really wanted to get everyone throwing money at them, I'm sure producing a Dust Warfare-style rulebook for Star War would be a no brainer.

Are you kidding?! Last night, after I bought this game, I called up my brother and told him I want to see the exact same thing -- a pilot with an astromech familiar. Great minds think alike!!

You could build a "redeemed" Trandoshian Bounty Hunter hero for this game, maybe he's still a dark character, but The Empire tried to terminate his contract, along with him, and killed his whole team [including his brood brother he was mentoring!] and now he seeks revenge.

HP: 15

Movement: 1 square / or 1 inch per turn

Attacks:

Side mounted cannons - Range 10 squares /or 10 inches straight line

May only shoot each gun once per turn or alternatively activate ability to power up the attack on chin gun only being able to fire once but automatically applies +5 damage if successfully hits

Ability: Can carry up to 10 units, if ATAT is destroyed troops inside must role their strength to see if they survive each troop that survives will take +2 damage

Defense wise when ATAT is attacked before the defense roll you automatically reduce incoming damage by -2 from none explosive attacks, roll 2x Black Defense Dice.

It might be a little overpowered but not unbeatable

I was reminded today of the various Imperial class decks and it got me thinking about what future class decks we might see for the Imps. Now I'm hoping for a deck that favors bounty hunters (and the rest of scum by proxy) as well as a sith-centric deck and a political deck. Keeping these balanced so that even Stormtroopers can benefit will be interesting, but at least it opens up more options.

I expect to get slandered for this but... I would like to see some great content spring up from the Clone Wars period. There's endless amounts of heroes, villains, and stories that can be unfolded on the table from this period. You could do it with out touching the Skywalker name or the Jar Jar Binks catastrophe.

But honestly General Grievous would be an awesome model to slay some Republic scum with. Oh and a few platoons of Roger Roger's would be peachy.

I would love to see more and varied terrain tiles. Back to Hoth??? Add in Snowtroopers, cold weather effects, maybe a snowspeeder or Tauntauns!

The tiles could even be two sided with desert terrain on the back :)

A Time Period where the heroes are Imperial remnants and the "overlord" part is the new republic could be nice.

I was thinking the same thing! Really hoping they will a Clone Wars expansion in the future... even a Knights of The Republic expansion would be awesome.

Can you imagen starting with KOTOR and your decision will affect the Clone Wars...your decisions in Clone Wars will affect Imperial Assault...OMG! :P

PS: add space battles to it and it's better then the movies, which is pretty hard to do I know ;)

KOTOR expansion would be really interesting especially with all the books that have come out lately for that time period. Be really nifty having some Sith Lord as the over arcing enemy and the "heroes" have to fight through hordes of his apprentices.

Though....

This could play out nicely where the "heroes" are part of the Sith empire and are trying to quell the "Jedi" separatists.

I hope FFG just concentrates on the era dealing with episodes IV - VI, that being said I'd love see maybe a Hutt expansion with Gammorean Guards, Weequays, Rancor, Tusken Raiders, maybe some known named protagonists like Dengar, Zuckuss, and 4LOM.

Instead of jumping all over different time periods they need to stay focused on what they launched with and treat upcoming expansions like they did for Descent. Expansions that add to the original content and focus on those heroes while maybe adding some new ones to select from. The great thing about the expansions for Descent is that almost all of them are an extension of the core campaign and fit seamlessly into that campaign to add more depth and choices, Imperial Assault needs to be handled in the same manner.
