Night Fall Expansion - POWER OF FATE

Hello, I wanted to include a new angle in my Night Fall expansion with fate. Fate is currently very simplistic so what I thought I would do is introduce an element of fate control to the players via "Power of Fate" cards. These cards would be a play once at strategic moments type cards, for example one card I had planned would be something along the lines of "Abandoned By Fate" where a player uses a fate token and the hoider of this card simply plays it and cancels his opponents fate roll and they still lose the token. Another group of cards would be injury cards. For example landing on the chasm and rolling poorly would allow the use of "Wounded Knee" -- the player may play this card against anyone rolling 3 or less on the chasm. That player is injured for three turns and must subtract 1 from their movement if they travel on foot. Or "Get Lost" - played against a player after they start to move, when played the card forces the player to move in the opposite direction intended. Another one could be for a poor combat result , ending with an injured sword arm subtract 2 from the next combat roll or damaged armour and so on and so forth. There are lots of opportunities here to spice up play with some nastiness, but the Power of Fate cards would also contain cards that are beneficial to play on yourself. So basically it allows players a good bit of real control over normaly random situations and also an extra level of detail.

I have had a few more thoughts on these "power of fate" cards and thought maybe they could be linked to alignment and maybe to the "gods" of the character. For example I could create a "favour" card which would allow use of the power of fate cards. To gain favour, based on your alignment, you must worship at a place based on your characters alignment. SO evil characters would go to the gravyard, roll etc and pick up a favour card. Neutral characters could go to the forest, crags or some other "sacred" spot. These favour cards could then be used to limit the number of POF cards a player can hold, perhaps have random values printed on defining how many cards can be held or allow the use of just one, with subsequent visits to the characters holy place enabling them to hold more cards. I like both ideas!

Just some thoughts anyway, I will start listing some of the cards soon.

Interesting idea. I love an small expantion that is focused on the use of fate and has some rules focused on a players alignment. Great idea!
