Vader in a Defender. Like he was in Tie Fighter.
And so, a Shuffling.
This brings to mind something I would have considered doing if I was on the initial developer team for x-wing:
The base ship is purchased, then the pilot. Barring the Falcon, all the ships have the exact same stats except for pilot skill and ability. So if the base ship card had the stats and the pilot card was on clear plastic (similar to the Gloom cards, for those who have played that game) and laid overtop to produce the cards as we know them.
This does add cost, but you could get Luke in a y-wing ot wedge in an A-wing, Maarek in the defender or what not.
Now the game as is is built around the current method and the pilots would have to have been designed for the method I suggested above, though many would work fine, some are designed too closely to their ships.

there actually are miniatures games designed like this.
No doubt, but I don't personally know of any. ![]()
Reading this thread made me do some thinking. It seems many of the Imperial pilots just suffer being on the wrong ship, where as rebel pilots tend to suffer from shortages in their ability, like Arvel.
Everyone in the Advanced is in the wrong ship.

This, so much this

Arvel suffers from having too high a pilot skill, and not having any slots for the newer, sneakier maneuver options.
That being said, he now has the option to Stay On Target or Daredevil, but it would be better if he were in a YT1300, and able to take a Navigator and an Intelligence Agent.

True, but if we could drop his PS, wouldn't you think he'd be much more effective? As a side note, what's the consensus on how low he needs to go? Obviously 1 would be fantastic, but thats not very reasonable for a named pilot.

Ideally, Intel Agent or Enhanced Scopes.

Too bad FFG goofed and gave SU slot to the Bwing. ... That's unfair, i just don't see why the Bwing got that instead of the A-wing. Which now with Accuracy Corrector means that the A-wing will NEVER get a System Upgrade slot. Which makes me wonder why they even made the **** Accuracy Corrector. /RAGE
Okay so something constructive, maybe a title something along the lines of Recon Pilot? Lets you pick a pilot and see his dial, from any range. Unique. 3 Points? Makes him a priority target for an opponent.
Edited by Bipolar PotterAccuracy corrector seems like a darned dumb idea
Coran in a Phantom creates an interesting choice: do you fire at the beginning of the round, then cloak? Or stay uncloaked all round and double tap?
Tycho in every ship in the game: canonically, he flew them all.
Jake Farrel in an x wing.
