Guess on the upcoming Tie-Advanced fix

I'm trying to build some traction for adding Attack without changing the amount of red dice you roll. Something like this:

Overcharged lasers

For every hit you roll, add one hit to your dice total.

So, roll two hits, granted four hits, and they can still be cancelled by just two evade dice.

My only question is: do evade tokens cancel dice, or merely one of the results?

They cancel results, but you could word the ability so that it works the way you want. "When attacking, deal an extra face down damage card for each uncancelled [boom] result." or something like that.

And you know, that sounds overpowered as hell, but the more I think about it, the more I think it wouldn't be crazy broken on a 2 attack dice ship. It would be a serious blow to low agility ships, which might actually be something the designers want, but I don't think it would break the game. Might be up to auto include level though, but ANY fix for the TIE advanced is going to be auto include because the point is to make a card that makes the ship worth taking.

Edit: You'd take what is bemoaned as the weakest ship in the game (I don't think it's as weak as forum posters complain) and over power it.

Evade results cancel hit results, not dice. You'd decide how you wanted it to work by adding the hit results before or after cancelling.

I dunno if it's just cos I really want to see it, but I kinda expect something that adds Boost to your action bar without using up your modification slot is likely (so they can use Autothrusters, like in my Autothrusters for Darth Vaders TIE Fighter thread). Maybe with a special rule: use the 2 speed templates, or allow using the turn template.

I actually borrowed that upgrade from heroscape. It works surprisingly well there with d6 (powerful when it lands, but often cancelled), so I figured it was worth a peak.

I was also thinking of a counter attack upgrade for the advanced, that specifically works for low PS pilots.

Something like,

When attacked by a higher PS, the attacker suffers one damage for each evade you roll more than the original attack.

That makes low ps advanced ships amazing in the current meta, and adds attack without boosting red dice.

Ok i must have missed some news or an anouncement. But is FFG actually going to restat or redo the TIE Advance?

The multiple titles (some being unique maybe) would definitely be adding something new to the game. It also fits with the lore of the ship.

Do you think they could do an aces type pack that included a new sculpt? Do a pack that had a regular advanced fig plus an avenger resculpt that are mechanically the same ship and use that to include the half dozen or whatever titles to fix the ship?

If they did, they would probably not use the original sculpt but use your Avenger model and the Proto-prototype from SW:Rebels

Not in so many words. They mention in the interview posted up-thread that they were definitely looking to add some new content to the game regarding the Advanced to bring it up to par.

Well, it is well known that the advanced needs a fix.

They have used aces packs to fix other, underpowered ships before

They have stated in interviews that they are aware the advanced under performs and have something in the works to fix it.

So, the assumption is that we will get some kind of aces-esque expansion in the not too distant future that us meant to fix advanceds. It is likely that whatever the fix is will be limited to TIE advanceds only because they need such a substantial boost that anything that would fix them would overpower any other ship. Therefore we assume that whatever the fix is, it will come in an expansion that focuses on the advanced in some way.

Well thats excellent news. Maybe I can knock the dust off my poor Advance's that havent seen action since the release of wave one.

So far everything is just speculation and logical deduction. In the interview they did mention the advanced right after they talked about (what we now know is) autothrusters, so it is not totally unreasonable to think that the fix will come shortly after wave 6, but that is really drawing conclusions based on very flimsy evidence.

I maintain that the TIE Advanced will see several Title upgrades. Some possible examples:

1 - TIE Advanced Production Model: a -3 point upgrade that does nothing but reduce the cost of the model.

2 - TIE Advanced x2: a free upgrade that adds a Systems slot.

1 - TIE Advanced x3: a free upgrade that adds Boost to the action bar.

2 - TIE Avenger: a 3-point upgrade that adds an additional point of Attack and a Systems slot.

Ideally these would come in an Imperial Prototypes Aces-style pack with a pair of alternate sculpts based on the Avenger.

I would be down for "Imperial Aces 2: Secret Weapons" But only if it was two new sculpts of the Advanced. A new Paint scheme wouldn't do it for me with this particular ship, just not 'different' enough. And I already have 2 regulars soooo meh. I still doubt they would use that many titles. I doubt they would use more than one.

Gonna have to say absolutely not. That's free prockets. And -1pt wouldn't be considered signifcant enough while the -2 was already done. Plus there is no cost to the piece if it's just a title. It would have to take a slot.

It would most likely come in the much more commonly seen TIE Avenger (the Aggressor is a ship made up for SWG, so that the empire could have a 2-seater fighter), probably something to do with delivering Prockets (Maarek's favorite ordnance)

Of course, a TIE Advanced that could take a passenger WOULD be pretty hilarious.

I'm still stuck on adding a Systems Slot. Accuracy Corrector would be a godsend. Imagine, for only 24pts you can take a Tempest Squadron Pilot with Accuracy Corrector. It offers reliable damage output and allows you to focus on defense on maneuverability. You'd have one tough ship.
