Is anyone else having some pretty serious problems getting that centre gun into the head of the AT-ST? I had to perform minor surgery with 2 different knives to cut away enough plastic to get it in there.
Attaching the AT-ST Gun
I dunked both the 'turret' (head/whatever) and the gun itself in almost boiling hot water.
Fished it out with a handy nearby paintbrush (but you could be clever and get a proper tool for that) and it suddenly fitted neatly.
I had to file a little back to put the gun in and had to put the legs in hot water to get them to fit the base.
I had trouble too. I just used elbow grease and forced it. After several tries, it finally snapped in.
I shaved down the "nubs" on the inside a little and tapped it in with a rubber mallet
My tip:
Place the cannon on a table near the edge
Press the canopy gun "housing" down on the gun and it'll pop right on
I held the head and the gun under the tap....hot water did the trick; it snapped right in.
And here I thought was a thread about ATTACKING the gun housing...
I didn't know the Empire used hot water cannons on rebel dissidents and vice versa!
I did the hot water trick, too, but it still took some pressure to get it into place. The mini looks great, though.

This is what I did... worked well.
I shaved off copious amounts of plastic. Basically, I made it so the knobs on the inside didn't have flat edge on the bottom; I made them flush with the side. Then I rounded off the top two edges of the gun so it could just slide in. Here's a scematic of the knobs before and after.

This worked for me as well.
Trouble as well, blunt force trauma to get the weapon array in place. Sadly no Ewoks were harmed during the operation. :-(
Am I the only one having had success with (very) warm water?
Or was I simply the only one trying it?
I used a hair dryer. Worked fine and quick too.
I just kept pushing it until it snapped into place. The trick is to set aside the fear you might break it.
I did the table trick...it took me all of 10 seconds. Thanks for the suggestion, Forensicus!
Just picked the game up and after trying to put this gun in both barrels broke off after a few attempts. Going to ask FFG for a new on and they really need to test that the parts don't break when you put them together. VERY poor design IMO. . *SIGH*
@Ken Bad luck. I hope you're not going to chuck the damaged one though!
Nope keeping everything. I know FFG will replace it they are always good like that.
next time try the hot water trick, it actually works very good!
Still having issues with new piece. But part not broken yet. I'll try the hot water later when I have calmed down. I would think spending 100 bucks on a new top of the line game, FFG would design stuff to be easy. But thats not the case.

Use a hair dryer. Quick and easy.
I'm not being facetious, make certain you're not inserting the gun upside-down. I tested this, and it's very difficult to put the chin cannon in upside-down, but not impossible. My model's cannon slid in quite easily when inserted with the correct orientation.
Edited by shaddaiI put the main part in boiling water and it did the trick. Thanks.
