OT: original star wars coming to blueray before episode VII

By Hobojebus, in X-Wing

From what I've heard, it is a rumour which may not be completely true. I cetainly hope it is however!

I have them on DVD. good enough for me.

I don't know why this news suddenly went viral again. It's based on an article from August, that only cites independent sources and is not confirmed by anyone at Disney. It's awesome if it's true (the tech to restore it undoubtedly exists) but until we get an official announcement I'm not going to keep my hopes up.

Rumour is all. Fox owns the distribution rights in perpetuity - forever. It would be smart of them (Fox) to release it around the release of VII. We fanboys, and fangirls, will buy it up.

I will believe it when I see it.

They better not take out the good fixes made too the lod trilogy.

Technically, the old films are already on Blu-ray. These are just the unaltered versions

Good news. I have them on DvD, but I'd love to have a Blu-Ray version that doesn't have all the horrendous edits.

I'd take a THX version as well, but unedited works.

Yeah and in that version does Han shoot first? No then it's not the version I want to own.

I want my OT gunan free and Hayden free.

I think the coolest thing ever would be a "choose your own" version. This would allow you to choose scene by scene what you want to see. I am of the mind that some of the special edition stuff from the 90s is ok, before the changing of force ghosts and the one that I hate the most, the changing of Boba Fetts voice into Ausie Fett. Some of the expanded shots of Mos Eisley and Cloud City where cool as well as seeing the giant Wampa ice creature and the expanced Death Star battles. I would still choose of course to see Han fry Greedo without Greedo shooting at all.

Yeah. Most of the background alterations he made were pretty good, it was when he messed with what was going on in the foreground that he kept jumping shark after shark.

The special editions haven't aged we'll it's all so obviously fake, but you look at an older film like Jurassic park those effects hold up really well.

Don't let a Kiwi hear you say that...

I really hope they do release the classic movies. I still have my old VHS tapes, don't have a VCR though lol. Would be nice to get to watch them the way they were ment to be watched.
