For Best Results... recommendations for setting up your BSG game.

By joedogboy, in Battlestar Galactica

For best results:
Players should be familiar with either/both coop/traitor games and/or the BSG series.
Game tempo needs to be kept up - I've seen a timer suggested in the forums. You can play a few turns at a reduced pace while new players learn, but then pick things up!
Table talk/ Role playing - get into your characters, talk it up, accuse other players, practice disinformation, etc. This is a game with a great social aspect - make the most of it.
housekeeping -Have someone ready to hand out skill cards - this seemed to take a long time with people reaching across the board for their cards. In fact. if several players each take a housekeeping function, the game moves along at a much brisker pace.
Focus on the game. You need an environment where you will be able to hear each other's table talk, and concentrate on the game experience. While things that distract and add to the tension of making rapid decisions can be good, things that distract and slow down play are bad, bad, bad.
