Will be see Obi-Wan Kenobi in game?

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

As much as I'd like to see old Ben as a crew card, he's already a part of the Force in this game's timeline.

So, what then, the timeline is immediately prior to the Battle of Yavin onwards? Because half the named X-wing and TIE fighter pilots died at the first Death Star and yet they're all still able to fly around with people who didn't join the Rebellion/Republic/Empire until a decade later. Half way through the first movie seems like a pretty arbitrary starting point for what's allowed and what isn't.

And that's all forgetting the fact we're getting Greedo crew in Wave 6.

Exactly.

Greedo was dead long before Obi Wan. And Luke's Gunner card was from when Obi-Wan was on board the falcon.

If they did make a ship for him, it would probably have the special ability that just before he blows up, you just remove it from the board.

Just to interject Obi-wan died just prior to the gunner scene. Carry on. Move along.

At the start of the activation phase, Your ship may immediately clear all stress tokens. Then discard this card

Force Shot

Once per game. You may attack 1 enemy ship with an ordinance secondary weapon, without a target lock. You may re-roll all blank results.

The thinking here is that Obi-wan is a easy way to clear the stress for free. He calms everyone down.

For the force shot, we all know that everyone taps into the force from time to time. Even non jedi's use it without realizing it. They call it luck or experience

Strictly speaking, if it's performing a Barrel Roll action it would be restricted to only a legal move (ie, not into obstacles or off the board).

The FAQ states that you can in fact barrel roll off the board, and your ship is destroyed if you do so.

Q: Can a ship decloak or perform a boost or barrel roll action that would cause it to go outside the play area (and thus flee the battlefield)?

A: Yes. If a player performs a boost or barrel roll that causes it to go outside the play area, it flees the battlefield and is immediately destroyed.

-treat your units total points as being one less than your opponent.

-treat your units total points as being one less than your opponent.

That could effectively give you 5 or 6 points worth of upgrades for free. Some people will go as low as 95 points just to make sure they either get or don't get init.

Perhaps it should read "when the game begins, treat your total points as being one less than your opponent"

You dont get the extra points, just guarantees you initiative.

Ooh!

what about

"There are alternatives to fighting"

"When you excecute a maneuvre that makes you leave the field,

you do not count as destroyed"

Screw you! iam goin home! :P

You dont get the extra points, just guarantees you initiative.

But you still are getting the points, in a way.

I build a 100 point list, some other guy builds a 95 point list. Now effectively for 1 point I get to win the initiative bid, yet still have 5 more points worth of upgrades then him.

Well being that Old Ben hates flying I would say no?

I like the mind trick, you can cause the attacking ship to forego its attack, but you must have a roll off or something, like both players roll 4 evade and the one who rolls the most focus results win, tie going to the attacker.

I'm trying to think of specific things Ben did in the film and how they could translate.

  • Scared off the Sandpeople -- Select opponent at start of Combat that cannot select you as a target? Cannot be Target Locked this round, gain a stress token?
  • Negotiated with Han -- Negative point cost?
  • Turned off tractor beam -- We don't have tractor beams, maybe a move away from a ship you've collided with after you resolve the collision?
  • Fought Vader -- Some variation on Biggs' ability? Maybe taking an opponent's target lock from a friendly ship at range 1?
  • Sacrificed himself -- Take a damage to allow a friendly ship that would collide with you to move ahead of you?
  • Helped Luke -- we've had plenty of those already

"After your opponent makes an attack against this ship, you may cancel that attack and flip this card face down."

Thematic and awesome and pricey.

I think you need a "you may" in there, or else he's gone after the first time you're attacked. I'd hate to lose him on an attack that didn't score any hits.

Good Call
