Will be see Obi-Wan Kenobi in game?

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

Or would be be "Ben" Kenobi? I would assume we won't be seeing him as a pilot (At least in the forseeable future), but crew? Quite possibly.

Obi-Wan Kenobi crew?

Skip your attack, add 2 [evade] results when defending.

Now, to find a way to abuse that. :P.

I hope not.

That wizard is just a crazy old man.

Gunner =P

Definitely approve of evade results and not additional green dice

That could lead to a lot of abuse though. Turning someone right into a bunch of asteroids or straight off the field is a bit too strong for what you are intending.

Perhaps, in line with your (I assume) intent: Once per round, after an opponent succesfully executes a maneuver, before his action step, that ship performs a barrel roll action.

This is not the ship you are looking for.

Move along.

You could barrel roll a ship right of the board like that. Just wait until the 57 point YT or VT are near the edge and roll them right off.

True, but that's still better than hard 3 turning them off the field. :P.

Though, saving myself, I did not say perform a barrel roll action with that ship so you could argue, and I will now, to make it more viable, that the action should be performed by the owner of the ship. :P.

That was my intent and purpose from the start and absolutely not while grasping at straws.

An Emperor crew I think should have something like:

At the beginning of the combat phase choose an enemy ship. You decide the target of that ship's attack (it may attack friendly ships). Then discard this card.

Attacking ships cannot use focus tokens to modify their attacks against against this ship

"Ben's spirt" 5 points, modification.

Use the force Luke...

Missile and torpedoe cards no longer require a target lock on the target and no target lock needs to be spent.

(Ok, so not very useful, but at least its thematic!)

Kenobi: 'Action: Rearrange the asteroids on the board and whine about people dying.'

"Luke, you've switched off your targeting computer. What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I'm all right."

Your attacks gain one additional attack die. You may not use the Target Lock action or acquire any Target Lock tokens by any other means.

Edit: Although that would make carrying ordnance pointless, and it was a torpedo shot that moment occurred previous to...

Just change it to "Your attack dice may not be rerolled by any means"

As much as I'd like to see old Ben as a crew card, he's already a part of the Force in this game's timeline.

Strictly speaking, if it's performing a Barrel Roll action it would be restricted to only a legal move (ie, not into obstacles or off the board).

So's Vader in a game with E-wings in it.

So, what then, the timeline is immediately prior to the Battle of Yavin onwards? Because half the named X-wing and TIE fighter pilots died at the first Death Star and yet they're all still able to fly around with people who didn't join the Rebellion/Republic/Empire until a decade later. Half way through the first movie seems like a pretty arbitrary starting point for what's allowed and what isn't.

And that's all forgetting the fact we're getting Greedo crew in Wave 6.

I like the "There are alternatives to fighting" themed idea. Likewise a "These aren't the droids you're looking for. Move along."

"Action: After an opponent of equal or lesser PS reveals a maneuver dial, immediately reset it so that you are no longer in its primary firing arc. You may not fire on this ship this round."

Formula:

-"After an opponent of equal or lesser PS:" Ability only works on "weaker" or at least equal minds. Obi-wan borrows the PS of his host pilot.

-"Immediately reset it so you are no longer in its primary firing arc:" This is the "alternatives to fighting" theme.

-"You may not fire on this ship this round:" Obi-wan is a Jedi known for being protective, not aggressive; it also is a nod to "move along."

Shouldn't his crew card be "I have a bad feeling about this"?

These aren't the Droids your looking for

Discard this card, this ship cannot be the target of attack this round

Before Wave 5 and 6, this game seemed to start at the battle of Yavin. Dash and Greedo seem to have thrown off the time table. I'm just not sure what rebel ship Obi-wan could be included with that would make sense at this point. Maybe an X-wing aces pack as a modification?

Another Rebel huge ship maybe?
