Are There Cards Missing?

By R2-EQ, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I looked at all the cards that came with the game and I'm a little puzzled.

I have 2 regular storm trooper cards and 1 elite card but 3 squads of models. So that means I can never field 3 regular squads, always 2 regular and 1 elite.

I have 1 regular and 1 elite card for the Trandoshans but 2 squads worth of models. So that means I can never field 2 elites or 2 regular squads at the same time, always 1 elite and 1 regular.

Am I missing some cards from my set?

Someone had the full breakdown in another thread somewhere, but Tue question is does each card type match the totals in the contents page?

Ultimately the only concern here is for skirmish. The campaign never requires more than you get in the one box.

I have the same card counts. It seems this is intentional, the coreset includes enough for the campaign, but not enough to have a full playset of cards for the Skirmish mode.

Note under the Skirmish team building it allows for up to two of each elite (red) deployment card and four of each regular (grey) deployment card. To get all of these cards would now require two core sets. Hopefully this works similar to X-wing and we eventually see a three pack of Stormtroopers (maybe in a different position), with reprints of these cards (along with bonus command, agenda, and Skirmish cards) as a sort of ally pack. That would give us more minis for the campaign and the cards we need without spending $100 on another core set. We'll see what cards come in the Rebel Trooper ally pack, if we get another copy of the grey trooper command card that will give us a good idea of whether or not we'll see another Stormtrooper copy in the future.

Look at the top left side of each deployment card: each bar represents the number of units in the squad/deployment.

Ie: for Stormtroopers you will see 3 bars = 3 troopers

Sowith the core set you will be able to field:

2 x Regular Stormtrooper squad (of 3 figures)

and

1 Elite Stormtrooper squad (of 3 figures)

Without upgrades that will put you up for a total of 21 points with out any upgrades and for skirmish that seems okay for now.

Maybe there will come Stoormtrooper expansions (Ally packs) for those who may wish to field 40 points of cannonfodder :-)

His question is about the ability to field 3 regular squads not how many troopers are in a squad. You have the minis for three regulars but not the cards.

Wow, that's cheesy!

In the X-Wing core set you get enough cards to field generic ships but not certain heroes (wedge, howl) which is fine by me. If there is a storm trooper package in the future, what will they do, give extra elite and regular cards? Doesn't seem to likely.

This leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Why didn't they print a few extra cards? Sheesh.

I actually think it seems pretty likely. Didn't the First wave X-wing pack include extra copies of some of the generic X-wing pilots? Why wouldn't we expect the stormtrooper package if one exists to do the same. Also the coreset came with enough cards to field the generic pilots but not enough minis. You'd still need to buy a bunch of add-ons or second coreset to field a full squad.

No that's not how it worked.

Let's look at the X-Wing in the core set. You got 1 model and 4 pilot cards: Rookie, Red Squad, Biggs, Luke.

In the expansion, you got 1 model and 4 pilot cards as well: Rookie, Red Squad, Garvin, Wedge.

There were no extra generics. You would end up buying more X-wings and just get doubles/triples etc of the heroes.

In Imperial Assualt, I don't have enough cards to field the generic models I currently own. I can't field 3x generic storm troopers? That's ridiculous. Why would they do that?

Now, if the models were different, like elite stormtroopers in a different pose or something, I could understand but this? I don't understand the reasoning.

Just thought of this. Don't forget you can pick up a promo art Elite Stormtrooper Deployment Card from a Spring tournament kit. Find out if your store ordered one and hopefully you can schedule to make the event and get a copy of the card. :)

Hopefully this plan continues and we see some alternate copies of other cards we could use more of to fulfill a skirmish squad.
