'Redemption Scenario' from X-wing: Help me balance it!

By R22, in X-Wing

Trying to design the simulator mission that opened up "X-wing Rogue Squadron" by Michael Stackpole, I've wanted to fly it ever since I first read the books. Tried my hand at it with the Mission Builder. I substituted a GR75 for Rebel shuttles since we'd be forced to proxy an Imperial shuttle. Otherwise it is exactly the same as the described mission featuring 4 X-wings vs. waves of Imperial fighters (each wave consisting of 2 TIE/Lns and 3 TIE/Bombers). My only concern is the loadout of the X-wings and TIE/Bs. In the book a single X-wing is permitted to engage the waves at range but the rest must stay home because new waves can appear fro any direction. But this is dependent upon an X-wing being able to chew through the TIE/Bs pretty fast. Miniatures does not really allow for this so I made some adjustments. Namely, allowing 2 X-wings to pursue at range. I supplied generic loadouts but should I allow the players to choose what the X-wings and TIE/Bs have? Should the CR90 and GR75 be kitted out as well?

Take a look at the mission here. If that doesn't work, search "Redemption Scenario" by R22. Thanks guys and gals!

It fits the described scenario pretty well I think, a nigh-impossible mission with success being measured in how long it takes for you to die.

you need Expert handling on one of those bombers

Did you know that the redemption scenario from the Rouge SQN book is actually based off a mission from the original X-wing PC game. After you battled off the waves of bombers you then had to scuttle the Nebulon Frigate.

Check it our here:

Could you modify it so that the X-wing are able to Regenerate Shields (R2 style or by spending a focus token - OTY) and carry 6 Proton Torpedos (can use tokens to keep track of how many have been fired), and maybe have so that if the Torpedo hits it's a one shot kill.

In the PC game Bombers were very susceptible to Torpedos and Corran used them to good effect in the novel.
