New Title for Tie Defender to help with stress removal?

Hey Everyone,

When looking at the Tie Defender, the ship that is supposed to be one of the most maneuverable ships in the empire. It really has no way to clear stress. Perhaps a new Title or upgrade card in a future set?

So the defender has no red maneuvers now? That seems a bit too good even though most agree they are overcosted. What about a card that basically gives them a free adrenalin rush?

Holy hell, remove all red and turn it green? Take half the white maneuvers and turn them green as well?

Why not change the white k-turn into an s-loop while you're at it?

Honestly, I fly a defender all the time, and don't have an issue with bleeding stress. Often, I just fly the ship stressed or I do strafing runs. Do the koiogran then zoom the other way as far as i want to, then doing the Koiogran again.

It doesn't need to fly like an interceptor, the white koiogran is powerful.

It looks really cool, but maybe is undercosted for 0.

Defender is a FAST ship, not a maneuverable ship. I think something like that would bee too much in a 3agi 3 hull 3 shields, but you could go for the speed modification instead.

You gain the boost icon in your action bar. When you boost you may use any speed 2 maneuver template, except the koiogran turn."

That would be neat. Maybe even for barrel rolls with the straight 2 only.

I like that, a boost action with speed 2 templates. Possibly not the hard 2's though, those are a red move on the regular dial.

Giving it another big bank after already banking makes for nice long fast sweeps

This would be neat title. The cannon upgrade is big for the Defender, so replacing it is a real drawback.

If you're set on changing the 1's and 2's maybe make them white instead of green

I like it, but very expensive and only for the Tie Defender.

Probably a title too, so between the two you would have to make a choice.

I would make it Enhanced Thrust Engines,

Add boost action to your upgrade bar, but may boost with either the 1 or 2 templates

3 points (I know boost is 4), It's special for the Tie Defender

Actually, witn a R2 droid the Y-wing turns several maneuvers from red to green. I don't see a big inconvenience, further than the price, that should be at least 2 points. But, since the ship is overcosted as hell...

I keep digging, Imagine the vector thrusters like something that allows you to boost with 1 hard turns, or barrel roll with bank 1s. That could be fun, and you still need to do straight maneuvers to shed stress. You may need to fly the ship recklessly from one side to another. Also, in the meantime, you could add autothrusters :P

But now all red maneuvers are gone so stress is only induced by the enemy or an EPT.

TIE Defender II (Title, 0 points)

A refit of the model to react better and faster, lightening it and enhacing the retrothrusters attached to the wings, it allows to turn while accelerating in other direction, allowing a great maneuverability in fast chasings.

Remove the ordnance AND cannon slot.

You gain the boost icon. You can boost with any speed 1 maneuver template, you can barrel roll with 1 straight or bank templates.

Did you read the change? Only white maneuvers are turned green.

If you have such an issue with the defender - which I see as more of an artillery piece, than a arc dodging skirmisher, put adrenaline rush on it. Or learn to fly it with an ion cannon. The ship is meant to fly behind an enemy with the white koiogran and bombard it with ion cannon fire till weakened then get the killing shot with laser fire.

After this thread I started: http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/129000-the-defender-will-be-the-next-tie-advanced/?hl=%2Bdefender+%2Badvanced I started to think of ways to buff the Defender. There are a couple options you can take.

- Give it a Chardaan type refit for a -2 points that takes the missile slot. I believe according to MJ's maths its over costed by about 2 points, could be 3 though. That would let you take an EU for half price.

- Give it a modification that replaces the barrel roll with boost for 0 points. I think it should of had boost all along instead of BR. Its suppose to be crazy fast, but an interceptor is faster on the board.

- Give it a BTL-A4 type title upgrade. Linked cannons or something like that. I would cost this at 2 points, not the 0 of the Y-wing. So 9 points for the HLC can give it incredible firepower. 7 attack dice in two attacks at range 2-3. Good firepower with the Ion Cannon as well. I think this will make the Defender a super heavy hitting beast, but also would make it super expensive. Vessery would be a monster, but he'd also cost 44 points with the HLC + title. Could make the Autoblaster useable as well.

- An EPT granting title. Something like Hardened Veteran. If your PS is 4 or greater you make equip a second EPT, if your PS is 3 you may equip an EPT. 0 points. This would give the Onyx a much needed EPT and let Brath or Vessery take a second.

Just a few options to throw around. I do think the Defender needs some help.

It's better if the straights are green, and only gains the ability to boost harder. that pretty much changes the way you fly to a very different thing. I'm afraid that if it's changed to hadturn in green would be unappropiate, due to the ship's very nature.

It must be kept fast, or at least, not slow in any sense. It's a rocket that redirect the cannons while it burns the space at A-wing speed, weighting three times more.

Were not the Tie Defender doesn't have boost. We are trying to make it a little playable, but helping it remove stress
