OT: Star Wars is very Christmas - ish

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

... or if you don't celebrate Christmas, very Holiday-ish.

I don't know why, but growing up I always associated Christmas and Star Wars together as being related. It's not that I didn't like Star Wars in July, or October, or Februrary.... it's just that Christmas was just as much a Star Wars Holiday as a Jesus Holiday... perhaps even more about Star Wars.

Maybe it's becayse Episode V has the Hoth scene and that is very snowy and Christmas-ish?

Maybe it's because I always watched the original trilogy around Christmas time? (And oh yes, next weekend it's gonna be a Star Wars marathon oh yes!)

Maybe it's because I'd often get Star Wars "stuff" for Christmas?

Anyone else ever feel similar?

I remember when I think it was USA used to air the trilogy on christmas day. This was probably back in the 90's. Spike does the whole saga over the holidays sometimes now.

I associate Star Wars with May. May the 4th Be With You, Revenge of the 5th, and Return of the 6th.

Because its what Lucas wants you to feel! Buy his product lines!

I like to think of the childhood sense of joy and wonder that both brought me through the years.

Do mention "holiday" and star wars in the same sentence again

Lest horrible memories of things best forgotten come back to haunt us.

"Life Day"....

I got the Death Star playset for Christmas when I was six, so, yeah. :)

Very similar line of thought here too. In fact I believe I have received something 'Star Wars' related every Christmas I can remember, including this ALL of them as an adult and this one coming up (YT-2400 and Decimator under the tree right now).

I defiantly feel a kinship with Star Wars and Christmas!

absolutely! I have very good memories when I was a kid getting Star Wars toys for Christmas, even now my wife makes sure I get something Star Wars-y every year and X-Wing made things really easy for her :)
