Ysanne trigger?

By Wayne Argabright, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I keep hearing folks talking about a trigger for Ysanne? "At the start of the Combat phase, if you have no shields and at least 1 Damage card assigned to your ship, you may perform a free evade action."

What trigger are folks talking about? i have also heard folks say you cant use her if you are stressed? Am i missing something??? Wouldn't be the first time!!

The trigger for Ysanne is pretty clear on the card. No shields and 1+ damage cards.

Because Ysanne gives you a free evade ACTION at the start of the combat phase, that action can be used in turn as a trigger for other upgrades, like Push the Limit or Experimental Interface. Maybe that's what's causing confusion to you.

And note that, since it's an action, you can't perform it if you have stress tokens, which prevent any actions, even free ones like Ysanne, from being taken.

Thanks that does clear things up!!!!

Just a technicality, but I would argue that "At the start of the Combat phase" is her trigger. Then follows a sett of conditions to be fullfilled for her to grant a free evade action.

So techincaly you trigger and resolve her at the start of every combat phase. The resolution just happens to end up doing nothing unless she has no shields and atleast one damage card.

Other than that, what Jehan said :)

Agree with Smuggler - the trigger is an event, in this case the start of the combat phase. "...if..." is a condition for the rest of the ability.

It's probably a pretty minor semantic point without much actual impact, but that's my read on it.
