Dauntless into Daredevil? Yes? Daredevil into Dauntless? Maybe?
You can do Daredevil to force an overlap, which is a maneuver, which triggers Dauntless, which would give you a free action, then get the stress from Dauntless, then come back to get the stress from Daredevil.
If your normal maneuver ended with an overlap, that would trigger Dauntless, with which you could use Daredevil, then get the stress from Daredevil, then come back to get the stress from Dauntless.
So, effectively you can do both and in either order, but it will earn you two stress tokens.

Ok. Thank you.
Glad I checked.
That is an expensive trick though.

Arrrgh!! Too much stress!! ![]()
Are we sure you can Dauntless off the Daredevil?
I only ask because, unlike PtL, Expert Handling or Experimental Interface, Daredevil doesn't have any actions as part of its text, so Dauntless wouldn't get a trigger until the entire Daredevil action has been completed. Which means we're getting a stress token before we get the chance to take another action.
But Dauntless triggers off completing the maneuver, not the action, which does complete before stress is applied. So it nests. Right?
Well, that's the theory I was running with. But your daredevil maneuver would have to finish in an overlap, or no Dauntless. The basic mechanic seems no different to PtL.
Correct - Dauntless triggers off the maneuver, not the action. Since the maneuver is the internal part of Daredevil, and is completed before the stress (or damage) of Daredevil, it would work fine.
Moreover, you could theoretically Move (Overlap), Dauntless, Daredevil (Overlap), Dauntless, Target Lock, Stress, Stress, Stress.
Holy space cow! That's interesting!

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks.

Something about using a ability or opportunity once per round, unless otherwise stated.
Er something like that

Abilities are only limited to once per round if they specifically say that they are. I don't have the Dauntless card in front of me to check if it's one of those cards.
I don't think you could do the Dauntless thing twice, so you wouldn't be able to get that target lock.

You're probably thinking of the once per opportunity rule, which prevents you doing something twice off the same trigger. The "normal" maneuver and Daredevil are two separate triggers, so that rule doesn't come into play here.
But I was quoting the above post where buddy said
Overlap
Use Dauntless
Daredevil
Overlap again
Use Dauntless again
Target lock.
So I was thinking you use Dauntless twice, and would that fall under once per opportunity rule?
If not couldn't this become an infinite loop?
Move
Overlap
Dauntless
Daredevil
Dauntless
Daredevil
Etc etc.
Ship dies you gain tons of stress
Or possibly
Collide into another ship keeping the loop going?
No, because the maneuver is the opportunity. Your normal maneuver is one opportunity. Daredevil performs a second maneuver, which is a second opportunity. Two maneuvers, two opportunities for Dauntless.
Now Daredevil is an action, which has a once per round limit. That's what stops the infinite cycle you suggest.
Edited by BuhallinOk, so it is possible to use Dauntless twice then
As was mention
Dauntless
Daredevil
Dauntless
Target lock
