Step 4 of AT-ST construction.

By Doctor X, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Having a ***** of a time getting the underside guns into the slot on my AT-ST. I'm afraid that if I force it too much, the guns will break. Is there some trick to it that I'm missing? Did my set come with a bad one? HELP!!!

Many others have had the same problem. It seems like most people have used a hobby knife or exacto knife to cut away portions of the nobs so that it will fit.

I wish I could tell you from my own experience--no seriously, I REALLY DO WISH that I could!!! (my copy should be in the mail from MM soon)--but this is only what I've heard/read from others.

Instead of cutting the knobs (which might make it too loose) I used a file to file down a bit on the gun piece leading up to the holes so that it was easier to wedge in as intended.

Just and idea for those that have issues. I wasn't afraid it would break really, just had a hard time forcing it into the pegs.

What I did was to put the cannon on a table close to the edge and then press the hull/canopy down on the cannon while being careful that the cannon didn't catapult away. Worked like a charm.

THEN I proceeded on to magnetizing the side cannons by drilling into the hull and gluing magnets in the holes and then filing off the nubs on the cannons. That made the side cannons swirl and finished off an unsuspecting Ewok shortly thereafter

I had a helluva time getting mine together.

I start at about 10:05 on this unboxing video:

Someone on BGG suggested putting the pieces in near boiling water for several seconds to soften them up. I think I might try that if I have trouble.

When I first posted about this, I mentioned that you can use a craft knife to make it easier. If you don't feel confident enough, then use a file.

Do a bit at a time and it will pop in.

All the best.

I hate to break it to you, but you put the nose gun on upside-down :(

That's not upside down. It's the American Variant

Ouch! Are you going to bust your fingers again to fix it? I know I'd have to, my OCD wouldn't let me leave it!

Yeah. I just finished watching the Unboxing video, Crabbok. I enjoyed it.

If memory serves, the lightsaber "clash" token is the initiative token. Also, I believe those numbers (1 - 5) are for the multiple miniatures, such as the Stormtroopers -- for those that are not as skilled in painting miniatures as others.

I hope to get the game in nine days, or soon thereafter.

I ran it under hot water for 3-4 minutes and had sanded down the little nubs in the @@ just a tiny bit, it slipped right in and now it's snug enough it doesn't fall out when you yank on it but can still be rotated seemed to work pretty well.

Steam the big peice for a few seconds, then insert the gun. After that press everything together and put your hand and the fig in the freezer to harden it back up in a tight fit.

I did this and it worked like a charm. Both lightsabers are straight now and the gun of the AT ST neatly in place.

Job well done. :)

The nubs inside the body of the walker are angled, so you should be able to push it directly up into the cavity.

I just removed the excess flash, then gave it a good bit of force, and it popped in. Seems pretty solid.

yeah,
Still haven't got mine to go in without modifying the nubs.
I think I need to remove the flash on mine and maybe a little of the nub itself

It's fairly disappointing everyone seems to be having this issue.
It's a quality control issue that I expect FFG are aware about.
It's bound to upset the non wargaming, hates knifes and glue types you find over on board game geek.
The proper board gamers side of the market.

Panic...

You need hobby tools to install it. This is on purpose, so it can be considered a "miniatures" game instead of a board game. Well done, FFG, clever strategy. :)
