There is word that due to a licensing issue that the game is not coming into Australia (and other countries).

Could we get some sort of official word on what is happening and how we can get it locally?

Unlikely to be true but you will want to contact your store or local distributors. You won't get an official reply here.

It really seems dependant on the store and where they get their stock from since Good Games are saying they cannot get any till late Jan/early Feb while Combat Company hasn't said when yet and it was mentioned in another thread about Aetherworks who were getting theirs in next week.

It seems like we have a mixed bag.

I'm expecting to have mine in my hands before the end of this week. My LGS (Pegasus Gaming) here in Bundy, QLD, had orig ordered through GG (as 99% of Aus retailers do). Well, GG has dropped the ball on this item, and a few others to be honest. Pegasus ended up cancelling their pre-order and contacted Aetherworks. Aetherworks have told Pegasus to expect IA in store by weeks end.

This has all been forwarded to me by the owner of Pegasus (a good friend, and I help out at the store from time to time). So take everything I have posted in whatever way you want. I'm just posting what I know and have been told.

Just a quick update: The Combat Company updated their site to having Imperial Assault in stock as of today (23rd December) and my order has been shipped.

Their site states January 2015 but they have 25 stock there at present.

My LGS owner has postponed being with family tomorrow in Brisbane - 5hrs away- (xmas eve) to wait at the shop until his order of IA arrives. Then it's up to us who pre-ordered to get to the shop before close so he has enough time to get to Brissy.

This is painful... I have all possible items that have FB connectivity (even my TV) set up and displaying Facebook. Just so I don't miss the message from my LGS about IA turning up.... If it's going to be here, it'll be within the next few hours, otherwise it'll be post xmas.... *fingers crossed* for the next few hours.

Nope. No IA for Bundaberg... Looks like we won't be getting it until Dec 30th now... Not happy with FFG's latest round of release-hate concerning their products and Australia.

I might be in the wrong here, but I think some it might be the distributors fault combined with general Christmas chaos. Yesterday I had a chat with a FLGS manager; they had been begging/screaming for more X-Wing Core Sets from the Danish distributor since they had sold out in the shops. No answer for a loooong time until they finally wrestled some out from the distributor on December 19th. Apparently the core sets had been sitting in a container since the beginning of December but the distributor hadn't been able to (or made it an priority) get them out due to a busy schedule.

Anyways, I hope you'll stick around for it, I can assure you that it'll be well worth the wait.

As far as I understand there is an actual license issue and FFG will likely not be able to give their usually sterling customer service until the legal issue has been settled with Hasbro.

FFG has the license to Star Wars-themed miniatures games and has released Imperial Assault as such, while Hasbro, who holds the license on Star Wars-themed board games, seems to disagree - and has, supposedly, picked a fight with FFG over that distinction.

I am fortunate to already have recieved my copy of the game, but I hope the legal issue gets cleared out.

I'm off for Christmas, but you can find more on this issue on the BoardgameGeek - where there are examples of not only countries seemingly not getting the game or/and FFG reporting that they cannot handle customer service in those countries (like replacing broken parts) due to the unresolved licensing issue.

Got mine yesterday from Aetherworks. **** it's a big box of stuff, scary amount of room inside for expansions to fit.

Mine just arrived today and I did a quick flick through the manuals (all good, no pages missing), and I obviously checked the models carefully.

Mine were all good except a probe droid has one of it's three legs off the base which I'll glue down soon. The AT-ST is now put together with some shaving for the chin gun as well as the right foot to be able to slot in properly.

All in all, I LOVE the miniatures and looking forward to starting to paint them in the next few days.

Now I just need BtS for the SW:LCG to arrive. Then Armada, then X-wing Wave 6 + Empire huge +....

Congrats I'm glad too that I chose to not continue with X-Wing. Expensive for something we didn't play too often and mostly they would end up on the shelf to look good I do though like the idea of Armada more but with SWIA now, I think I am set for money spending >.>

Now to pay off my Ally/Villain pre-order.

Oh and also.. I love the quality of the AT-ST. Very sturdy and well made honestly. I don't fear dropping it, not that I want to.
