I never understood reasoning for Colonel Jendon's pilot ability being errated to only work with ships that don't have target lock. He just seems so lackluster now. He didn't even seem that great before the errata. He wasn't bad, but he was no Biggs or Howlrunner or Soontir Fel, just a solid ship with a fun ability. Was he so dominate with bombers or something that they had to tone him down? I don't remember anyone ever complaining that he was too powerful.
There are now only three ships he can even use his ability with: Tie Fighters, Interceptors, and Phantoms. Tie fighters with a target lock seems lackluster, and nearly pointless if you're running Howlrunner. The strength of Phantoms and Interceptors lies in their extreme maneuverability so flying those within range 1 of a lumbering shuttle seems silly. I guess you could give those ships a one time boost and then send them on their way, but is it worth spending all those points on the shuttle just for that; especially when Interceptors and Phantoms already cost a lot of points? Why not just slap a Targeting Computer on an Interceptor for 2 points instead? Also, Buzzsaw Whisper is way more brutal and efficient.
Colonel Jendon was made for Bombers. My question is if Jendon plus Bombers wasn't ever dominating the tournament scene then why was he ever nerfed in the first place? It just takes away from the variety of the game. If it isn't stomping all the Falcon, Phantom, and Swarm lists then why cut that option out of the game? Actually it might even be a decent contender verses the ubiquitous Fat Han lists that people are growing tired of, probably not, but if someone wants to play it why not allow it?
