February release maybe?

By Bipolar Potter, in Star Wars: Armada

No, i got you. To be honest i don't, he just got back in town from a con or something and sent me a brief fb msg. I'm a little hesitant to give out exact details, as i don't know how anal FFG can get about release date spoilers. To my knowledge, his main supplier hasn't dropped the ball him to date, so you can take it with a grain of salt.

The Upcoming page off the main FFG site- filter by miniatures and you can scroll down to find the state of products in development / production. The link is at the top of the main page. Link also: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_upcoming.asp

I'm expecting a late February release for this one. Then again (and nothing against FFG) FFG always seems to wait until the very last moment to release something for that Quarter.

The container had better be packed, sealed and on the boat before the end of January. Chinese New Year is February 19th this year, so everything shuts down for about 2 weeks before and after. If that window is missed, it will be April before it hits.

Chinese New Year doesn't mean much (if anything) over here in regards to business or post, so as long as it's on the way to distibutors before that should ok in UK/Europe!

It doesn't mean anything in the US either. The point I was trying to make is that if the boxes are packed and ready to ship they won't move in the country because everyone takes a month off from work. That means no packing, loading, trucking, or shipping is going to happen from about the first week of February to the first week in March. If the product isn't well on it's way, distributors won't see it until after everyone comes back to work.

Ah, right. For some bizarre reason i was thinking the factories were in the US, which is of course not the case. Suddenly makes more sense!

Given that core and wave 1 are supposed to release together, and wave 1 components are listed as still being in development according to the upcoming page, I'm going to stand by mid-late March at best.

Of course, I do hope I'm wrong.

How is there still supposed to be a tournament season for this game if it releases late march. I was under the impression that tournament seasons were supposed to be done around May or June?

Core and Wave 1 are not releasing together per the stores I've talked to.

Ok, I just read in one of the FFG articles that they were releasing together.

Things change though.

Given that FFG products typically have taken 6-8 weeks apparently (from others who have counted past X-wing releases) to go from "on the boat" to store fronts, and Armada is still "at the printer" we would at best (if it left today) be looking at a late February date. Given FFG's comment about the Wave one ships being released at the same time as the core set, and they aren't even sent to print yet, It is more likely looking like March to me. :/ (Which sucks, I would rather get the core and then the expansions a few weeks later)

I wouldn't trust Wayland to send me stuff even if they said it was in stock NOW, so i'll definitely take that with a pinch of salt.

The Asmodee merger may put Wayland's time frame in a more realistic light. Imperial Assault released in the UK and mainland Europe a week before we got it in the States. With the new distribution channels FFG has in Europe it may release there far before other areas hence the January release date.

I still think that given it hasnt left the factory yet that a 30th January date is dreaming - unless the person who updates FFG's upcoming schedule has taken an extended holiday break and hasnt updated it recently!

I don't know how items from the Far East travel to Europe, but to get items into the US the boat needs to cross the Pacific then be distributed across the country. 6 to 8 weeks is about normal for such a trip. If Asmodee has a faster way of moving items then a 3 week trip is reasonable for items to get into Europe.

Might be OT, but I had an email from Amazon.co.uk saying my preorder date changed to April.

I know that Amazon has not been accurate in the past with thier pre-order dates, but this may be relevant information...

Just got an email from On Military Matters. Its an online gaming and historical book seller in New Jersey, USA. It advertised Armada saying it would be in stock in "Two to Three Weeks." I've purchased from them and they have been very reputable in the past. Maybe they know something or are way off base. Who knows.

As much as i'd love to believe that, it seems impossible. I'd love to be wrong though!

That said, i spoke to my local shop owner (who is also a major distributor for UK online stockists) today and he still says feb and that it seems on track. I'll hold off too much optimism, but nice to hear.

It would be weird if the first we heard of a release was us fine folks on the forum posting "oh by the way I got a package with Armada Core Sets in it today". I think that would be a pretty fine trick actually :)

That would be the best way ever to find out they were released. The best way.

I would prefer the FFG Delivery Tracker App. The one that uses GPS to show us exactly where the container ship is...

That would just make it easier for the S&V players to pull off their piratical tricks.

Then pirates take over the ship and Captain Phillips gets killed and it takes another 12 weeks to re-build the entire Armada lineup.
