I was really busy this fall and missed all of the local tournaments our group went to. Finally I was able to make one this past Friday down in Greenville, SC. It was a good turn out with 16 players, 4 being from our group up in Asheville. Decided a few weeks back to fly a bzxx list for practice and got really comfortable with it.

The list is:

Farlander; advance sensors, push the limit

Cracken; squad leader

Rookie; r3-a2

Rookie

The guys I went with ran a dash list, rebel 3 ship, and a bomber squad.

Round 1:

Decimator/bomber x2/academy

This was a tougher game than I had expected. Playtests against the decimator have gone well if I can focus fire on it, but he flew it slow and skirted combat so I had to face off against the bombers first. Dice rolls were bad, but I had one bomber down when he shot my rookie, leaving him a chance at a modified win if I couldn't finish off the other. I made a mistake at the five minute warning and forgot to ptl with farlander and rolled 3 eyes and a blank. I was kicking myself for another two turns before finally blowing the bomber up as time was called.

9 point modified win.

Round 2:

Firespray/defender x2

One of the defenders was named. Vessery I think. I meet his firespray in the alpha strike and the two rookies/cracken eat through his shields and into the hull while taking minimal damage. Farlander goes one on one with Ves and is able to take him out in 2-3 turns. I am able to block the firespray with cracken and kept both rookies out of its arcs. Everything but the ps1 defender is destroyed and all of my ships, except cracken, still have shields. He miss hears the five minute warning and conconcedes. While packing up he realizes his mistake (thought it was the last round announcement) but ships were already off the board so he gave me full win.

100 point full win

Round 3:

Chewy/ywing x2

So at this point the Asheville folks are sitting at tables 1-3 and we're feeling good about our showing. This match was one I had wanted to have fore a while. Chewy was fully loaded with title, lando, 3p0, push the limit, tactical jammer. The ywings had a blaster on one and a ion on the other. He sets up his ywing in the middle so I set up directly across to meet him on the otherside of a line of rocks. Plan worked and he flew chewy right at me. I was able to stress him out after a ptl turn and had him blocked for 3 turns with no actions. Chewy was dead in no time. I kept the ywing at bay with the second rookie then gave chase to clean up. Ended with taking only 2 hits to shields.

100 point full win.

Round 4:

Farlander/biggs/wes

Ended up that two of us from Asheville ended 3-0 going into round four and it just happened to be the guy I play against every week. I have a horrible time against this list. He takes out. Rookie in the alpha strike and I take biggs down the next round. Its not enough, he finished off the other rookie then cracken. I get his farlander down to 3 hull but can't pull it together.

27 (?) Points match loss.

Even though I go 3-0 and lose to fourth place my margin of victory puts me out of the top 4. We end up placing 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th. Overall I was a great time and the store down there is great!
