Imperial List - 9 and 3/8s

By Resv, in X-Wing

Lately most of my lists have always included at least one or two Interceptors. I know they aren't as competitive in today's meta but I have been surprised at my recent success with them. In an attempt to play around with them I recently decided try dropping PtL for other skills. I have thrown predator and out maneuver with some success but recently I came up with this list. I have no idea how it will perform, especially lacking PtL.

Soontir Fel - (30 Total)

Push the limit

Royal Guard Interceptor - (23 Total)

Veteran Instincts

Royal Guard Interceptor - (23 Total)

Veteran Instincts

Royal Guard Interceptor - (23 Total)

Veteran Instincts

Total - 99 points

Four ship builds are quite common at my FLGS but they mostly top out with only one or maybe two pilots above PS6. This build has me scratching my head as to how it might play but I think the idea might be crazy enough to work. With one PS9 and three PS8 incredibly maneuverable ships I honestly wonder how well I could make them all dance. Thoughts?

Non-PTL interceptors aren't quite as incredibly manueverable.

It's so crazy it just might work!

Even if you go down in flames, at least you tried something new and unique. Something your own.

Seems like a fun list to me.

Just have to watch where you are at, and where you can go. Without PtL your arc dodging will suffer. When I run PtL squints they are almost always stressed from turn to turn.

I got to try out my 2400 the other day. My buddy flew Interceptors with PTL. Eaden Vrill loved PTL on them. :D

He would at that. Lol. Still.. that is their best use. Possibly the better use is to RGP them and hull, and shield them against him and maybe predator, or out maneuver.

Actually non Push the Limit interceptors don't suffer that much loss in maneuverability, and Veteran Instincts gives them another kind of edge. What you gain from being able to boost and barrel roll is partially made up for by the ability to chose different speeds of turns, banks, and forwards (and K turns!) instead of having to do 2 speed maneuvers the majority of turns. This makes PTL interceptors very easy to predict where the initial maneuver will take them, even if the later actions are not predicted.

I agree to some extent, but I fly them way different than anyone can predict. I'll have them change targets to burn stress if I need to, or the ever surprising, fly them stressed for 2 turns for the kill.. I'm pretty unorthodox when I fly hyper maneuverable ships.

When I get them in the thick of it they remain close, so even if I didn't need to de-stress I'd still be pulling 2 turns and banks.. may as well use that green.

My weakness ... admittedly ... will be having those squints out at range three.. lol

I have fun with a couple Vader builds too.. one with 2 Royal Guard, and one with 3 stealth Alphas.. so, I do fly non pushed squints, I just have kore fun with a PtL squint..
