can some explain crew members?

By berserkwerewolf, in X-Wing Rules Questions

hello I am new to the game and brought some stuff because I like it and my friend didn't have it.

so it came with Crew Cards.

I have a few questions.

1) how do I add them to my force?

2) is a crew symbol required in an upgrade bar to use them?

3)how do they work?

Thank you in advance for answers and helping this rookie pilot.

Crew are a type of upgrade card. The icons along the very bottom of the ship card show what upgrades that ship can take. Each icon represents a single upgrade card of that type that the ship can take. So if the ship has 1 crew upgrade icon, it can take a single crew upgrade by paying the points in the lower right corner of the upgrade card. A ship with 2 crew icons could take 2 crew upgrades. You are never required to take an upgrade. In addition to the upgrades that are listed on assorted ship cards, each ship also has the option to take a single modification upgrade (crossed wrenches) and a single title upgrade (x-wing hologram).

As for how to use them, the text on the specific crew card should be reasonably self explanatory.

Do you have a specific card that us tripping you up?

  1. Every ship that can equip them comes with a small number of them.
  2. Yes.
  3. As any upgrade: You do what they tell you to do :)

thank you very much for the explanation.

I got the rebel ace pack, it came with Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors, but neither ship has the crew symbol?

No nothing specific at this time thank you.

Rebel aces includes a modification upgrade for the b-wing that allows it to take a crew member.

I can see his that would be a tad confusing to a new player. The modification (which doesn't have an icon in the upgrade bar, because titles and modifications are special), adds a crew icon to the b-wings upgrade bar.

Those two crew members can be used on the YT-1300, the YT-2400, the HWK-290 or the B-Wing/E2. The Rebel Aces pack was more aimed at the X-wing gamer that already has a few models. It's not really a starter pack.

There's an upgrade for the B-wing (B-Wing/E2) that allows it to take a crew member. You can use any one of them on that ship providing you take that upgrade.

For example: You could take Keyan Farlander, add the B-Wing/E2 modification and then add Kyle Katarn as crew. Now you have a ship that can remove a stress token to change focus results to hit results (like a focus token), and when you do that Kyle allows you to add a focus token to that ship.

Thank you all now it makes sense. :D

It's actually a Modification, which is similarly invisible.

Ack. My bad. I was mixing it up with the Y-Wing title.

fixing now
