B & N and XWing inventory!!!

By Plainsman, in X-Wing

I stopped at the closest B&N (80 miles away) today to see what they had for Firesprays and Shuttles. They had four shuttles and a Transport on the shelf along with LOTS of small ships and Core Sets most covered with DUST!!!

I asked at the counter about Firesprays and the computer showed none in stock. While speaking with the clerk helping me, he said that they literally had HUNDREDS of boxes of inventory in the store room that has not been opened and it was mostly TOYS! He said they have no idea what is specifically in the boxes til they open them! I explained the shortage of some ships across the country, but guys here at the forum always seem to find things at B&N. Now with his info it makes sense why hard to find items turn up at B&N!

The dust of the empire resides in aging buildings...

The local one here had the same ships in stock for months and never got the rebel aces pack. I thought it was done for and had stopped checking but suddenly the other day they had the two new large ships. A few days later I got a 25% off coupon and went back for a second decimator. They were out. I asked a lady there if maybe they had them on a shelf end display somewhere. She checked where they had had one and found it had been swapped out so she told me the one location was all they had.

Checked the website when I got home and it said they had one in stock. I reserved it and within 15 minutes got a confirmation e-mail and text that it was there and waiting for me. From now on, I'm doing that first. Assuming I can find it that is. Their website tends to lose all the x-wing stuff from time to time.

I managed a BN for a while and even though they have "HUNDREDS of boxes of inventory in the store room" they are actually already scanned in the inventory. So if their inventory does not show any Firesprays, then most likely those are not in the back room. That being said, they do tend to run behind on all of the latest game things (they usually get the newest waves about a week or two after most game stores) but when they get an item, they have stock for a while.

For example, there are supposedly two stores in Richmond, VA that have Falcons in stock. Always use the Check In Store and Pick Up In store feature before making the trip. The computer inventory is often wrong and it is difficult to fix at the store level, so it reads wrong for a while.

the big reason i really really like B&N is that my wife actually likes that store and when ever she goes there she most always gets me a ship.. you she would never venture into a game store and that's why i think FFG should expand into more mainstream outlets if possible..

Yeah, just tried the local B&N for a Falcon yesterday... but no luck. Wasn't for me though... was for my nephew who I just got started playing the game and he would have really loved a Falcon. They did have a ton of other stuff in stock though, and I have previously had luck finding the "impossible to find" model of the month there. In the mean time, nephew can live with Imperial Aces (he also loves my Royal Guard interceptor).

Easiest thing to do is just go to their website and search for the miniature you want and then click the Pick Up In Store button. That will let you search all stores for that one miniature and most of the time it's fairly accurate. If they don't have it when you get there, have them check the back as shelf space is usually too limited to have everything out.
