What do you think about replacing BK space with something more interesting? I always had a problem with BK because it was boring.

My idea (not yet playtested):

have gold or die? I think that was the point.

Better then back in 2nd Edition when the deserts wouldn't even allow you yo draw a card. Getting a water bottle (and a mule) was critical to staying on the middle region
