Let's Make a Community Campaign!

By Castlecruncher, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Hey folks! I've recently come up with the idea to create a large community campaign for AoR. This will not specifically be a campaign with set parameter, per se. Instead, it will be a generic campaign with a starting point, various related missions, and an end mission to wrap them up.

For example: say the game starts with the PC's escaping a crime boss on Tatooine after stealing his credits for the Rebellion. They then get some new missions: Go to planet A and kill Imperial B; go to planet X and save Rebel Operative Y. Each of these missions relates to the crime boss: the Imperial was owned by him; he planned to sell out the Rebel for revenge. Eventually, the campaign comes to a close, and the crime boss fights the PC's in the final showdown.

How you'd set this up here would be like this: Someone posts a Premise. This is what is going on in the campaign (you're fighting a crime boss!). This includes the start and a suggested end. Multiple people also post missions. These are little parts and pieces (you're killing an Imperial! You're rescuing a Rebel!), but they don't have the full picture. They have stats, but not background. For example, it says you go to Coruscant and steal blueprints from an Imperial factory, but it doesn't say what corporation owns the factory, which Imperial is related to the factory, or what the blueprint even is! The missions ought to have little tips for what to add so as to relate the PC's (you know the Imperial's janitor! The prison is owned by an enemy!), but that's not required.

Off you go! And may the Force be With You!

Campaign Premise: The PC's are having issues with a certain Imperial. He is the commander of a small fleet that scours the area the PC's are in, looking for Rebels, pirates, or loiterers! He's a real jerk.

The game starts on a mining/manufacturing planet. The PC's were sent to a factory to steal the blueprints to a new Imperial ship. There is only one copy in existence, and this is it! The PC's have fake ID's and get in easy, but have trouble getting out. It would be a good idea to start In Medias Res. The PC's end up having to run around through the streets in a scene similar to Nowhere in Guardians of the Galaxy. They fight the Imperial's goons who show up to deal with the disturbance, and must steal an impounded ship to escape (it could be theirs or not, depending on the story). They then have a chase with Imperial TIE's as they try to escape an Interdictor's gravity well. Overall, it's kind of like Escape from Mos Shuutaa.

As the campaign progresses, the PC's are doing tasks to aid in creating the blueprinted ship, such as knocking off Imperials on their tail, covering up old stations, or saving mechanics or people that worked on the ship. All the while the Imperial Officer is being a real nuisance.

At the end of the campaign, the Rebellion is just about finished with the ship, but the Imperial Officer has caught up. There's a large battle, at the end of which the Rebellion uses the blueprint-based-thing-a-ma-bob to defeat the Imperials. The end battle is similar to the end of Operation: Shadowpoint, but on a larger scale.

Campaign Premise: Your characters arrive on a freighter into the system (although you can name it lets dub it Filion for now ok?) its just been annexed by the Empire and things are still rough on the surface.

Whilst making the delivery and meeting your new employer your ship is stolen and used in a heist before eventually fleeing offworld.

The Empire think you're responsible and your efforts are why the thief has fled offworld.

However they stole a new Imperial weapon powerful enough that just one of the charges can devastate a continent and he's heading to Coruscant to test what 2 of the remaining charges can do to a world lacking a natural biosphere...

The Empire are lying in wait for a freighter, but he's secured a passenger liner and plans for it to detonate with only the PCs standing in his way...

Quick question: what if the PC's fail? Does the guy just destroy a quarter of the galactic capital? It might be more plausible to say it can total an entire city once past the defense systems. It also might make more sense to say that the guy is headed somewhere less important, like an important planet in the campaign.
