New player friendly / or not friendly to new players? New Player (to both Vassal and X-Wing)

What kind of computer are you playing on? Mac or Windows? Windows

I've ended up successfully teaching several people how to use the client the last few times I've logged in, so I guess you can put me down as someone who's willing to teach. My SN on Vassal is the same as here, playing on Windows.

Couple of Questions on Vassal: X-wing.

1] Can you play offline against the PC?

2] Can you play offline against your self? Set up to players and play each.

3] If you can, is there a step by step instructions for a total newbie somewhere on how to setup a game an get it going.

First impression is this seems very complicated. But would be real nice for trying Builds out when no one is over to play.

Well my first impression is that you've necroed a second thread to ask the same three questions you asked last time.

May be if you keep asking, and just be persistent with your necro, a Vassal module with adjustable-difficulty AI will magically appear out of thin air. Since that AI will be advanced enough to play tournament-level X-Wing, it should have no problem with typing "vassal x wing" into google instead of the user so he doesn't have to. Who knows, it may even be sapient enough to answer the same question several times in a row. Although at that point, you may be pushing the envelope to where destroy all humans becomes a thing.

For a legitimate question, in a thread that is designed to be a resource and help players get into playing more X-Wing, specifically on Vassal your question was perfectly fine.

To answer your questions:

1. No, Vassal does not have a built in AI simulator into it.
2. You can certainly play against yourself, I have done that in the past, though of course it is skewed in that you are making all the decisions.

I just played my first game of Armada on Vassal, been playing vassal 40k since back in the day so I'm used to the system (but not the bazillion hotkeys!), looking to maybe play some X-wing on there too.
