Question about the Margin of Victory in tournament

By Krynn007, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Was reading over the tournament rules and I don't see this mentioned

If a bomber has concussion missles. Uses the missles which are now discarded, and later same bomber is destroyed.

The time has run out and both players still have ships on the board

Are the concussion missles are no longer added to his opponents MoV?

I was just thinking if that was the case, could that in a way be an advantage for the player with the bomber, and a disadvantage for his opponent? Seeing as his opponent will not get those points towards his MoV?

Of coarse if the bomber is destroyed before using them, then that'll count towards his opponents MoV?

That correct?

So now lets say rebel player defeats imperial player who had 2 concussion missles but used them and all his ships are completely destroyed.

Does the rebel player still add 100 to his MoV?

Or would the rebel player MoV score be 92 since the 2 concussion missles were used and discarded before the ships carring them were destroyed

From reading the rules the second last sentence states ",,,his opponent’s squad is worth 100 squad points, even if it is worth fewer squad points to begin with"

I am pretty sure it's the later, but just want to make sure I'm understanding this 100% correctly and not missing something

Are the concussion missles are no longer added to his opponents MoV?

They are added to the MoV. Everything that was on the ship counts, whether it has been discarded or not (and no matter which way it was discarded).

Tournament Rules, "Score Piles", page 4:

When a ship is destroyed, the owner of the ship places the corresponding Ship card into his score pile along with all Upgrade cards equipped to that ship (including any cards discarded during that game, such as missiles, bombs, etc.). At the end of the match, each player calculates his score by totaling the squad point values of all cards in his opponent’s score pile.

Emphasis mine, but there's your answer :)

To that end, many tournaments ask that rather than discarding an upgrade, you merely flip it face-down, to make the accounting easier.

If this were not the case, Alpha-Strike lists would be hugely potent, as you'd get a substantial amount of damage AND a huge point-advantage.

This is actually formalized in the tournament rules as well.

Not counting "spent" upgrades certainly would make some things sick. It also would make the Stealth Device much better as it is essentially a guaranteed 3 points that would be gone before a ship is destroyed yet if it's not destroyed it helps the ship live longer.

Thanks a million

Was late when reading the tournament rules last night, and pdf was going soooo slow.

I missed that part

Thanks again

Good for a thought experiment...
