Best Hulls in Class?

By Alex Cube, in Rogue Trader Gamemasters

The Shrike really should be reclassified as "Heavy Raider", given that it is more comparable in size, mass, and combat capability to Frigates than other Raiders. At our table, we don't really consider it a "proper" Raider, though most of us seem to quite like the ship all the same.

Its niftyness as a ship has led me to include some scattered, surviving remnants of the Meritech people into our campaigns, just because I like the ship so much (well, that and wanting to bring back the whole void-scavenging human gypsy concept/40K version of Strigany).

Needless to say, my players now have a Shrike in their fleet. They had two, but one was captained and crewed by npc Meritechs, who have since gone AWOL doing Emperor knows what.

Agreed. The Meritech-Shrike is a fair shade better than other raiders, though, like all Raiders, the role of such a ship is quite limited. Other than piracy, blockade running, escort duty and perhaps a touch of low-tonnage smuggling, Raiders' size, firepower and survivability keeps it relegated to specific tasks.

So, transports in RT unlike BFG turn 90? That's a touch excessive imho but whatever. It probably keeps them alive longer.

Don't tell me no one gives the Dauntless its 90 degree turn arc? When they quadrupled the hull of frigates and raiders it was bad enough for the poor lc's. Slowing the turn rate of the "mega-escort" dauntless would all but disembowel it.

Do you at least give it the extra distance on aaf? It got 5d6 when everone else got 4d6 besides orks.
