Christmas fleet, the musical

By Sebastian Traitor, in Rogue Trader

Hmm...it's Christmas but I've done nothing yet...ok, I've got an idea: only one rule, all ships must have at least a song or a music that fits their "character".

Meiko Ironclad
Class: Unknown Ironclad
Hull: Ironclad
Main Themes: Angry Heart by Black Sabbath and Roundtable Rival by Lindsey Stirling

The Meiko is a really antique ship, older than Imperium.
It's appear to be an old concept of battleship, when the armour was considered more important than the space shields, or at least, this is what appear to be taking in account the limited possibilities of the ships about the defenses. Also, it's interesting to take note how poorly armed it is by modern standard.
It's larger than any other Grand Cruiser or Dreadnaught and really more manoeuvrable; it could be even fast as a destroyer, but the captain should turn off the power of some components in order to deliver it to the engine: the ship is not capable to provide enough power to all its parts at the same time.
The hull is long and slender, "without the prow", of a bright red, but apparently is not related to the Mechanicus, because on both sides there is the drawing of a sneering woman with short hair and an unusual red dress, probably the representation of the ship.

During the 983.M41, the Rogue Trader Nicholai Claus Bishop of the Bishop dinasty, lord-captain of the Meiko, signed a contract to escort the Midnight Convoy of Trader Isabella to the Sakine subsector, a small zone on the edge of Imperium, not too far from the Koronus Expanse.

The Sakine subsector would be respectable rich if not often pillaged by bands of pirates, so any commercial expedition in that sector must be carefully escorted. The planet Sakine itself it's an advanced hive world with a medium space docking yard and serves as reference point for the other less developed planets of the sector.

Captain Nicholai expected to be assaulted by one or two bands of space pirates, but things were worse: the renegade space marine Scroojus had listen about the wonderful Meiko and had decided to captur the ship, so he had contacted several bands of pirates.

Scroojus had not underestimate the Meiko or his captain, but the Midnight Convoy, since Isabella had added to her fleet three destroyers of second hand and she had installed more heavy weapons on her traders for that voyage.

The battle near Sakine was harsh, the numeros pirate ships weren't a match for the Meiko, but they were supported by three cruisers, an unknown traitor Dauntless, a Hellbringer (probably from the Koronus Expanse) and the main ship of Scroojus, a Devastation class cruiser. The raiders would have distracted the Meiko while bombers from the Devastation would have destroyed its weapons and disabled its defence, but they encounter an unexpected opposition from the Midnight Convoy.

At the peak of the battle, when all the weapons of the Meiko have been destroyed by bombers from the Devastation, Nicholai decided to ram the main ship of Scroojus to maximum speed: in this way, he has destroyed the command bridge of the cruiser and damaged the engines; after this, the survivors raiders retreat, leaving the Hellbringer and the other damaged ships behind them.

To thanks Nicholai for the incredible victory, the planet governor and Isabella offered to aid him to restore his ship, but it was clear that most of the systems were irreparable, so Nicholai decided to completely reshape the Meiko in to something of different; he spent the next eight years at space docking of Sakine using the remains of the Meiko to build a completely new ship, more suitable to the space battles of the M41.

Today, the Meiko is a bulky dreadnought, a new type of this class optimized to be a large carrier; the ship is slower and less maneuverable now, but better armed, it still has its characteristic bright red, and now it has also a figure-head, a statue that resembles the drawings that were once on the sides of the ship.

Furia Immortalis - Avenger-class Grand Cruiser (SP103?)

Main themes: Smell of Victory and Strength of a Thousand Men, all by Two Steps from Hell

Supposedly one of the first in its class, the Furia has served the Imperium faithfully since its' first days.
Throughout many battles in which it outlived its hundreds of thousands of its crews, it became sort of a legend.
One of it's oldest logs detail its participation in the Battle of Terra itself during the Horus Heresy, during the siege it was disabled when its crew died long before the ship itself gave up, some Mechanicus even considered dismantling it as it supposedly kept fighting for hours after all contact with the bridge was lost, which could point to an "awakened cogitador" (read Abominable Inteligence) but that was later refuted.
As the legend grew, it soon came the time when most Grand Cruisers were deemed "cursed" (from the large number of defections during the Horus Heresy) and lost the spotlight to more "modern" designs (Battlecruisers) and the Furia was cast aside in the reserve fleets for a long time.
It was eventually deemed as a proper ship for the Abyssal Crusade and lost with all hands.
It was found millenia later as it entered Port Wrath's gravity well, hulked and with its plasma drive flickering and pushing it in the direction of the port. The situation could never be explained and as the hulked ship was scanned and rigorously inspected by a tenth of the Battlefleet Calixis (blockading its path to Port Wrath), the Furia stopped by itself. The ship was filled with holes from all sort of weaponry and had its spine nearly cracked in half by what must've been a warpstorm.
Many admirals wanted it to be trown into a star in fear that it was some sort of chaos plot to destroy Port Wrath. Rear Admiral Mihail Chuikov however (nicknamed "Bathered Steel" by his suburdinates), took up the challenge however and ordered it to be completely restored per its original specifications - once Ordo Malleus agents arrived and cleared the ship for such, it was moved to Port Wrath and spent only 3 years in repairs. Rumours among the Mechanicum working in the repairs said that the ship was very accepting of the repair supplies and that in some way it seemed eager to be back in the fight.
Since then, the ship serves faithfully Lord Admiral Mihail Chuikov and his crew. Today Chuikov is a Rogue Trader due to heroic yet "dubious" actions taken in the battles of the Spinward Front and now comandeers this mighty ship throughout the Koronus Expanse in many "compacts" done in the name of the Imperial Navy.
