X's or B's versus Dash?

By TasteTheRainbow, in X-Wing

For quite awhile now, the go-to option for a 24-21 point filler for rebels has been a B-wing. Maybe a dagger, maybe a blue with FCS. But almost never a rookie that leaves a few points behind and I've not seen a Red since the Spring.

Has that calculus changed with the popularity of 58-pt Dash? He covers so much ground that I feel like maybe a rookie or a set of them with their white 3-bank and 3-hard turns might be a larger threat to the action-dependent donut. They have a better shot at getting in his way and I believe a better shot at landing somewhere that Dash can't slip by. Of course, if Dash does get shots the B-might be a better option.

Has anyone else been replacing your blue's with rookies in the current meta-game?

Well if we're talking lower pilot skill ships then we're talking about blocking more than we are chasing, in that case I think you're better off with Prototypes, much faster and more nimble, also cheaper. I'd rather have 3 Protos than 2 B-wings vs Dash. Headhunter dial isn't bad either but doesn't have boost or BR so that hurts it.

Usually I'm blocking with both scrubs and giving them LoS on each other's block areas. Seems pretty effective.

I've been running:

Wes VI R3-A2

Biggs

Blue

Rookie

Against Dash I often find myself wishing the Blue was another rookie, for the reasons sites above. B's just have no legs. Great knife-fighters will always lose to kiting snipers. And Dash is the best kite in the game so far.

Well if it's 43 points we're talking about you could always run 2 Protos and a Bandit

Z-95s are basically as durable as X-wings and are the most economical ships for their cost.

They're probably your best bet versus dash, since none of the basic ships really do well at all. Generally, you need a higher PS and higher mobility character to hunt down that particular pain in the bum by exploiting the doughnut hole.

I tore dash appart with a pair of tie fighters at range one this Wednesday no reason you can't do the same with headhunters.

With the barrel roll it is very difficult to get inside range 1 of dash.

For B-wings I would take dagger with adv sensors so you can barrel roll in attempts to block dash. Dash loves asteroids but he hates it when he runs into other ships.
