Lilith Vs. Secret Projects and Torn Hero

By Da_ghetto_gamer, in UFS Rules Q & A

So this came up in a game that i was playing earlier today:

Im playing Promo Lilith which says E commit a foundation: commit a non-character card in your opponents staging area then they discard x cards from the top of their deck where x is the difficulty of the chosen foundation.

I know that secret projects gives everything in play +1 difficulty but what happens if my opponent reacts to my commiting thier foundations with torn hero and commits my 2 secret projects does the difficulty immediately go down and i only mill them for the difficulty of torn hero or has the ability already seen that torn hero was a 3 difficulty at the time the ability was activated and still mills them for 3?

Also does secret projects affect the difficulty to block? im not sure since it isnt the actual difficulty of the card

Yes it would go down and you would mill them for 1.

Note also, if they had a single Red Lotus (and no other ready foundations) and you tried to commit it, and they responded to cancel your ability, even if you canceled their red lotus, it would already be committed and Lilith's E would "fail" since there were no ready foundations to commit at the time it finished resolving.

I am curious on that secret project (regarding blocks) thing as well.

Initially it was thought that it only gives "+1" to the number in the left hand corner, as that is the "difficulty" of the card. And i thought it was ruled that breaker, which increases card difficulty, does not effect a block, because a block ignores the card difficulty and instead uses the block modifier.

However rapid ares styles says the difficulty to block gets -3...

I know the "difficulty of a block" is the speed + block modifier + progrssive...but curious how secret project fits in.

Secret Project does not add to difficulty of blocking, just as breaker does not add to the difficulty of blocking. Adding to the difficulty of will not affect the block

Yeah, and? There were cards way back in the earliest sets that lowered blocking difficulty, that still doesn't make it the same thing as the difficulty of the card.

If blocking didn't involve a "difficulty" you wouldn't be able to commit foundations to help block. Regardless, blocking doesn't involve the number in the top left corner of a card.
